GAME WEEK 1

The season is finally here!!

A very positive pre season, but now our attention turns to going and putting these performances in the league.
We start our season away at Mental Health Sports, a good test to start the season. The lads are ready and buzzing, should be a good one so come down and support 👊🏻

Our pre season has come to an end, alot of valuable minutes for the lads, some quality football played against tough opponents and lessons learnt along the way. 8 weeks preparation before we kicked off in August.

RESULT

Tipton Town 0-1 AFC Goldthorne

We end pre season with a hard earned win over Tipton this morning. A very difficult game against a young Tipton side, their pace caused problems out wide however the experience of our defence was able to nullify any threats with both Rich and Luke having to be called into action occasionally but nothing too troubling. A solid midfield battle today, Danny, Henson, Owen and Shiv when he came on putting in a huge shift and winning their battles. A game with few chances for us, Thommo having a few long range shots just off target, before he got himself 1v1 after a through ball and calmly slotted home, 2 in 2 for him now, a clinical threat in front of goal as always.

We held out strong in the final moments as Tipton put more pressure on us, but the defence stayed resilient and every player out a huge shift in today, the lads efforts were unbelievable.

We wish Tipton all the best for their Warley League season and we now put our focus to the start of our season next Sunday in the WDSL division 4.

PRE SEASON 5/5

Our final pre season fixture as we travel to RSA Academy to face Tipton Town from the Warley League. Should be a good test for the lads and a chance to build momentum into the season as we look for our 3rd win in as many games to round off an impressive pre season 👊🏻

It's an honour to be raising awareness for men's mental health everywhere we go

The stigma that men don't talk needs to be broken, men if you need help, speak out, you will be heard. TETC are one of many charities and organisations out there designed to offer support to men who need it

As a team we raised £1300 for Tough Enough To Care at the end of last season and to have these guys on our kits and upcoming training wear is an honour

RESULT AND TODAYS SQUAD 🔵⚫️

AFC Goldthorne 1 - 0 Bushbury Hill

A very good result today, in a game where we didn't dominate the ball, we soaked up pressure well, took our chance when Tyler lobbed the Bushbury goalkeeper with a header.
A game with few chances at either end, Bazza forcing a save with a good strike in the 1st half, as well as Rich making a good save to keep Bushbury out in the first half
Neither side were able to create many chances in the second half, a physical but well battled game from both sides.

We wish Bushbury Hill FC the very best for the upcoming season, a good group of lads and good squad of players 🤝🏻

PRE SEASON GAME 4

Our final game in Burntwood this week as we host Bushbury Hill from Division 3 of the Wolverhampton League. After last weeks victory against Bushbury Athletic, sundays game will be a strong test for the lads this week as Bushbury themselves have had a good pre season so far.

The lads are ready, looking forward to this one, the hard work has been put in and the start of the season keeps getting closer
