I think its only right to introduce our very nervous judging panel.

We are upwards of 40 nominations now across the categories so its gonna be really tough for these guys, youve really smashed it. I have no vote, no opinion and no influence whatsoever (bit like being at home hahaha!!! Joking obvs)

The final 3 in each category will be invited to our end of season presentation where the winner will be announced.

Gaz from Nisa Local and Mitesh from Londis - Standish Lower Ground joined by Fat Monkey players Dez and Emma. Then Mark from Holly’s Hearts and Victoria who is our heritage nunber 100. The one and only Si Rickardo will run the iron rod over the refs in particular and head judge Mrs Fat Monkey.

Get persuading them folks!!!

Im gonna lay the gauntlet down. Fat Monkey will fund 4 refereeing courses for anyone willing to get involved as a referee.

Don't forget you get paid to referee when qualified so win win.

8 months in the planning, days in the ex*****on.

Months of ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, donations, subs, player sponsorships, raffles and competitions, purchases, kit launches, football cards....ITS ALL BEEN SO WORTHWHILE.

Wow!!!

This has exploded!!!

In less than 24 hours of being open!!! And some of the nominations are incredible, real tear jerkers and inspirational - so glad im not a judge!!!!

OUR 2ND EVER FAT MONKEY COMMUNITY AWARDS

We want you to nominate those people who deserve recognition.

Who has overcome barriers, tackled adversity head on, achieved amazing things. Who support our sport more than anyone else, in the background, never seeking recognition but are amazing people.

Its open to ANY person involved in community rugby league, boys, girls, masters, PDRL, LDRL, Charity, anyone who attacks the game with Fat Monkey Values!!!

There are 6 categories this year.

1. Community Project of the year
2. Community Referee of the Year
3. Coach of the Year
4. Volunteer of the Year
5. Team of the Year
6. Young Person of the Year.

Nominate Now with your reasons why - make sure you tell us all about the nominee and why they deserve it (not in the comments) - either DM or via email [email protected]

Entries close on Thursday 1st October 2026 and our independent panel (of which I am not one) will then assess and shortlist.

Shortlisted nominees will be invited to our presentation night on Friday 4th December 2026.

Not sure it can be called a national festival if a number of teams have been excluded and have had to come together and host their own masters breakaway event on the same day also in Blackpool.

Yet again community teams, volunteers and players saving the day for those teams excluded.
