So this was how yesterday started 🤦‍♀️😆

Well what can I say ………….. Today, as the sun was shining, I decided to take Lil down to the Orchard with ESD as her last trip out was a little too exciting at times and I was hoping she would be a little more relaxed. I’m not very good at sticking to my plans so we ended up doing the same route we did with Bev on Sunday 🫣. What an absolute superstar she was 🤩. The whole way round she was asking was I sure?’ 🤔 and when I said yes she said ‘okidoki, hold tight mother’ 😆 In and out of the stream several times, through deep muddy puddles, shimmying past and under trees and low branches and up and down steep banks and hills. We met a lovely man and his extremely well behaved Labrador who kindly waited to one side allowing us to pass. She got a bit anxious going down one muddy slope as she was slipping but listened to me chuntering away and we got down without incident. She walked back up the field on a pretty long rein with her ears pricked (apart from nearly stamping on ESD when she got too close 🙈). Back in bed having her mid morning snacks and feeling very pleased with herself. 🥰

It’s been a busy week for us old folk 👵 👴
Thursday: Martin and Daphne spent the morning finishing the tidy up of the hill field fence line. All overhanging branches now removed so we can mow (and ride) right up to the fence. Me, Lil and ESD decided to ride up and make sure he was doing it properly 😆 This was Lil’s first visit to the hill field on her own and what a brave girly she was ☺️ Both her and ESD needed a big sleep after that excursion 😴 though surely it can’t be comfortable sleeping on your teeth 😣
Friday: Farrier day for Lil and Harry. Lil went first and was an absolute darling 🤩, didn’t make Dan swear once which is a first 😂 Then I set out a few poles in the indoor and she was once again amazing. She’s worked out (finally) that poles can be trotted over slowly and steadily and as long as she watches where she puts her feet they don’t leap up and bite her. Bonus 😃
Saturday: Martin noticed a rather large branch had fallen onto the pavilion roof and had to be persuaded that it probably wasn’t a great idea to try and sort it himself just in case he, heaven forbid, fell off the roof and messed up his new hip 😬 so we await a visit from someone slightly more agile to shift it, thank goodness. Gwenny did a spot of exercise first, much to her disgust then me and Lil headed over to the arena to enjoy the sunshine where she was, once again, an absolute dream girl 😍 We have been saying for a long time that we need to get Lil in the trailer again as the only time we have travelled her, apart from coming over from Ireland, was to go to the vets for horrid stuff so Martin hitched up and, bless her heart, she followed me up the ramp like a little angel 😇 She doesn’t have a lot of patience but settled quickly and waited for Gwen to join her. Gwen loaded herself 😆 and then stood and looked bored for 20 minutes until Lil stood quietly just watching the world go by 🥰 They were rewarded with a turn out without rugs in the sunshine and they both look an absolute picture 🥰🥰 I am now going out to put their rugs on for the night or Gwen will die of hypothermia 🫣
Tomorrow we might just take them round the block and then we may, that’s MAY, find somewhere quiet to go and play (or possibly die) so she learns that going in the trailer is not all gloom and doom. Watch this space 😳
