BSA Whitby is a well established private registered dance school, specialising in the teaching of ballet, tap, freestyle, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre & street dance. As a former pupil and teacher for Miss Benson-Smith, in 2010, Julia Howard-Trillo took the Academy into her very capable hands, taking over as Principal. ils are wishing to take their dancing to a professional level, or are simply wanting to dance for enjoyment. We will strive to help all pupils achieve the highest grades possible in their chosen dance subjects, hoping that some of them will enter full time Stage or Dance schools on completing their training with us. Ballet will form the basis of all dance taught in the Academy and is absolutely essential for the serious student hoping to make a career in the dance world. All professional dancers whether performing ballroom, jazz, tap or freestyle have received a good grounding in ballet, helping them achieve suppleness, posture and the grace of movement that is required. Introductions can be made to theatre companies on behalf of students seeking an audition for summer season work. We regularly participate in charitable events within the local community, and hold 2 fundraising shows a year raising money for our chosen charities.
