Well! What a weekend that was! Me and Steve Middleton headed down to Dorset for a weekend in the Vans and was after a few Wrasse! Being from Essex we don't have any good Wrasse fishing around so we had to travel a fair way, but that's what having a campervan is good for!
We had an awesome 2 days in Dorset catching a lot of fish, and here is some of my catch highlights, nothing huge, I lost one good one and had another eaten by a seal...long story! But still caught plenty and on a light setup even the little wrasse are great fun! The Tom Moir Micro FFS was the lure of the trip for me catching lots of Ballan and Corkwing wrasse!

I had two setups with me a MajorCraft UK crosstage travel 3-15g on the lighter setup, and then a heavier Westin-Fishing UK&Ireland ultra stick 10-40g ISH rod setup with a big creature hoping for a big boy. It had a few tests including a brief few seconds fight with a seal, which it lost tbf.

Absolutely awesome trip.

I had my first attempt doing ribs on the Weber Grills - UK & IRELAND master touch kettle the other day and very pleased with how it came out!
Followed roughly the honey teriyaki ribs from the Weber recipe book, but slightly changed the rub, couldn't find all of the spices needed but found a Chinese sticky glaze rub from Lidl which done the job.
Cooked over Big K Products coconut briquettes via the snake method and cooked for around 4hrs in total and left to rest for an hour after, in that hour I did rush to smash some burgers!
Still got a first rib attempt, fairly happy!

Another awesome Fundraiser by The Big Lerf, genuinely the best group of anglers in the country. Everyone running around Weymouth getting excited over catching different types of gobies. What an event. The guys running it put so much effort into it and it shows! Overall a good day for me putting up 8 species, which is a PB for me. Po***ck, Sand Goby (make sure the lures in the pic! I'll still count it for my own personal record of species in a day), tompot blenny (my favourite species), pout, ballan wrasse, rock goby, shanny and a corkwing wrasse. Should've been 9 as I dropped a gilthead on the swing! And it would've been a lifer! Always next time! Was great to see everyone as well and have a good catch up! Till next year!

What a lovely weekend that was, we stayed at The White Hart, Blythburgh on Brit Stops , which was a lovely little stopover, Pickle certainly enjoyed it! Nice little pub with a lovely b**r garden, and good views over a river. We also then headed to Adnams in Southwold to give Pickle his first go in a cafe/pub environment with some good food! He did brilliantly there and made a few friends with the lovely staff! I was able to pick up a nice box of Ghost Ship for myself (I almost got Pickle the Adnams dog bowl but thought to be a bit more sensible with money!), which will come in handy for next weekend at The Big Lerf Fundraiser in Weymouth! Still considering whether to record that trip for YouTube! But I have found a fantastic Caravan and Motorhome Club CL to stay at in Weymouth!

The change of direction explained! For years I've been a fishing vlog channel, and done weekly videos on YouTube for a long time. For the last year I've took a break, weekly vlogs were a lot of work and I lost a bit of passion for it. My life has changed loads in the last few years, those close to me will know that. The new direction for the YouTube, Instagram and Facebook will be Van life, Pickle (my Rescue dog), fishing and outdoor cooking. Combining all of my passions in life. Videos will be monthly (first Friday evening of every month) and I'll post throughout with reels, shorts and general posts. I'm still Chasing Bites, but Chasing refers to exploring in the Van, and Bites both food and fishing.
I know it's a big change, and I'm incredibly excited by it and have lots planned, I've spent the last year living van life and enjoying so many trips, and now with Pickle, it will be great to share them with him! And share with you guys!

Pickles taken to Van Life really well, which is great to see! We were really hoping he'd do well and enjoy it so we could continue to do trips and we've now got so much planned for the rest of the year!
It's certainly been tough with him, as it can be with any rescue and we are still working on a lot. But he's done so well and got so much better at a lot of things!

This Friday me and Pickle have a night in the van just us. It's been a busy week and a night in a van at a nice site by a river is well needed for both of us! Hopefully the van will be a lot cooler than home overnight!

Trying to think of some good dinner plans for the night too! May bring the little portable BBQ and cook over coals! And hopefully this time people can see a fish! 😅

Smash burgers and wings! Can you name a better combination?
Flavoured the wings with the Smokey Rebel wing rub and kept the smash burger simple, beef mince with salt and pepper sprinkled onced it had been smashed, topped with some cheese and bacon! I did have some onion chutney laying around to use in the bun which was delicious!

A big milestone for me and the channel! Have passed 3,000 subscribers! Absolutely mad! Thanks so much to everyone who has decided to smash that subscribe button!

I know I had a long break, and the last video and future videos are a big change in style with less fishing and more general van life and exploring! I know this style isn't for everyone, but it's great to see a few new people have found it and enjoyed it! It was great fun to make!
