Congratulations to Susie, who travelled to Leicester last night for the England Hockey ‘Spirit of Hockey’ National Awards! 🏑🏆
After being named the West Regional winner, Susie was shortlisted for the National Unsung Hero Award, proudly representing the region and our club on the national stage.
While the national award wasn't to be this time, Susie and some of our WHC VIPs enjoyed a fantastic evening celebrating the incredible people who make hockey such a special sport.
We couldn't be prouder of everything Susie has achieved. Her dedication, commitment and tireless contribution to the club embody everything that grassroots hockey is about. The award may have gone elsewhere, but Susie is, and always will be, a winner in our eyes.
Congratulations, Susie – your WHC family is incredibly proud of you! 🏆🖤❤️ England Hockey West Hockey Association

Weymouth Ladies enjoyed a fun and friendly match against Richmond Ladies today!
Richmond, featuring former WHC favourite Megs Taylor, were visiting Weymouth for the weekend. While the famous Weymouth sunshine didn't make an appearance, plenty of smiles, good hockey, and great company certainly did!
A big thank you to Richmond for making the trip down. We thoroughly enjoyed the match and hope to arrange a return fixture in the future! 🏑😊❤️🖤

Yesterday, we celebrated the end of the season with our annual “Battle of the Ridgeway” charity match. This year, we proudly supported Parkinson’s UK and are delighted to have raised £321.40 for such a worthy cause.
The afternoon saw a closely contested match, with Dorchester & the surrounding area coming out on top against Weymouth with a 6–4 victory.
In the evening, the club gathered at Oliveto for our annual awards night. A huge congratulations to the Ladies 1s on receiving their league winners’ trophy and medals, alongside all of our individual award winners.
A special thank you goes to our four captains — Ben, Geoff, Liv and Jo — for their hard work, dedication and leadership throughout the season.
While we celebrate our award winners, we also want to recognise every single club member for their support, commitment and contribution both on and off the pitch this season. Every one of you has played a part, and you should all be incredibly proud. Parkinson's UK

🚨 AMAZING NEWS🚨
A huge congratulations to our own Susie Stone, who has been named the West *Unsung Hero of the Year* at the *England Hockey Spirit of Hockey Awards!* 🌟🏑
This incredible honour recognises Susie’s outstanding dedication to Weymouth Hockey Club over the past 24 years, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Without Susie, our hockey club would not be the thriving, successful organisation it is today. From growing our junior section through strong links with local schools, organising tournaments and coaching sessions, to creating clear pathways into senior hockey, her impact has been enormous.
Alongside her coaching, Susie has served on the committee for almost 20 years, taking on countless vital responsibilities including accreditation, DBS administration, fundraising, facility management, volunteer recruitment and promotion — all with professionalism and commitment. She also currently serves as Dorset Hockey Chairperson.
Just as importantly, Susie is the person behind the scenes keeping the club spirit alive — supporting members, encouraging volunteers and helping create the positive culture that makes WHC so special. She leads by example and is respected by everyone across the club.
And to top it all off — she’s also a fantastic hockey player! 👏
As the West regional winner, Susie has now been shortlisted for the National Unsung Hero Award and will represent the region at the England Hockey Spirit of Hockey National Awards 2026 on 6th June in Leicester.
This recognition is thoroughly deserved, and the whole WHC family will be cheering you on in Leicester, Susie! 🔴⚫🏑

Today we had the pleasure of hosting Yeovil & Sherborne Hockey Club for a friendly match with our Under 10s and Under 8s — a first for us, and hopefully the first of many!
For several of our players, this was their very first match experience, and they should all be incredibly proud. The games were played in fantastic spirit, with some lovely hockey on display and plenty of brilliant goals scored throughout the morning.
What always stands out most at this age is the amazing team spirit and camaraderie. Watching the players grow in confidence with every match is what it’s all about.
A huge thank you to Liz and Yeovil Hockey Club for making the trip and helping make the morning such a success. Events like this only happen because of the support from the club — thank you to chefs Alice and Soph, Chloe for umpiring, Marley for helping with the teams, and all the parents for the cakes and their continued support throughout the season.
Bring on next season! 🏑🔴⚫️💪🏼

Weymouth ladies played our first summer league match on Tuesday evening!!! After a slow start Weymouth were down 4-0 at half time, however picked up the pace in the second half with 2 goals from Iris and a goal from Millie!
Despite many great shots on goal Weymouth weren’t able to get past the Gillingham keeper and the final score was Gillingham 6 - 3 Weymouth.
A lovely game to start the summer league season - hope to see plenty of you over the next few weeks!!!! 🏑❤️🖤

Our Under-12 squads proudly represented Dorset at the West Regional Tournament on Sunday. The girls travelled to Bristol for an early start and showed tremendous determination throughout the morning. Every member of the nine-player squad gave their all and never gave up. Five of their six matches were closely contested, and they can be very proud of their performances.
The boys competed at Millfield, where they faced some exceptionally strong opposition. The coaches were delighted with their attitude and effort, with every player continuing to work hard right to the final game.
It was a fantastic experience for both squads and a valuable opportunity to develop and compete at a high level.
A big thank you goes to Coaches Ben, Case, and Wayne, Umpires Wend and Mike and to all the parents. These events would not be possible without their continued support. ❤️🖤🏑

The Weymouth Vets Team took a 4-2 win against New Milton Beavers today in a sunny game that brought some old sticks out of the cupboards. Hugh Bowden opened the scoreline with a well polished finish. The opposition quickly equalised putting a speedy ball past goalie Steve Gerety. The second goal came from a quick finish by Andy Mc after a cross into the D from Dewey.

By half time the scoreline was 2-2 so Weymouth stepped up their passing and teamwork in the second half. Nick Chubb scored the third from a top of the D belter giving Bernie her assist for the game. Solid defense from Bernie and Dave Baker kept the opposition from scoring in the second half. Just before the whistle a perfect pass from Andy Mc found Chloe's stick and a fantastic finish from her secured Weymouth a 4-2 win!
