If a friend is in trouble in the water:

• DO NOT jump in after them. You will get into danger too.

• Call 999

• Shout to them to stay calm and float if they can.

• Throw something that floats, like a football, to help them stay above water.

• Stay where you are and keep watching them until help arrives.

DO NOT JUMP IN TO SAVE THEM! A person drowning is a panicked person. They are fighting for their life! They will drag you under the water if you go near them!

If you are in trouble and cannot get back to the edge
1. Lay on your back
2. Put your chin up and ears on!
3. Try to stay calm and shout for help!

I will make a proper post on this later! But I need you to share this NOW! Share with every parent and every teenager you know! The risk is real. And although I’m sure most of your teenagers don’t listen to what you say anymore …. keep reminding them. Over and over!!! UNDERSTAND THE RISKS! That football could be an absolute lifesaver!! These messages are scrambled and made in a state of absolute panic to get the info to you as quick as possible!!!!!! 💔

The lifeguard is not your babysitter!!!

Reshare from last year. It went viral! Let’s see how it does this year! ♥️♥️♥️…. I happen to stumble upon this video yesterday.
And it’s easy to see how so many babies and young children drown, because parents assume they are safe in shallow water! Keep all your non-Swimmers at arms length and make sure somebody’s always watching!!!
Children will drown this summer!
it happens
every year on holiday! And breaks my heart!
Please, please let this be your reminder to keep your children at arms length!!
Supervised children do not drown!

Picking up sinkers from the pool floor might seem small, but it means she’s learning to trust herself underwater, getting comfortable putting her face in, and building the confidence that leads to swimming independently. You just need a little water and a little patience ♥️

One person to watch!

Do not assume someone else is doing it!

At least one child will drown this summer because of this and it breaks my heart every year!!! In almost all drowning cases the child is not being supervised!!

Children need to be able to feel how their body reacts from jumping in!!!

So once you’ve nailed it from this angle practice one-handed jumps where the child goes under the water.

Don’t force them under, don’t push them in, just allow their body to feel its own buoyancy. And always give loads of praise. Go steady and slow and you’ll see how much confidence is gained with a little trust!
