Our season began with a thumping win last night, with eight different goalscorers and a nice early boost on the goal difference which has notoriously shafted us last two seasons so hopefully the lads have learnt 👊

Apologies to Reece Brown as ChatGPT insisted it had spelt your name correctly even though it clearly hasn’t but I couldn’t be arsed arguing with it - must have been the gaffer controlling it with grammar like that

We go again Sunday when we host our good friends from Bebbo’s Barmy Army - Oldfields v Bramshall on a Bank Holiday Sunday up the club, what a fixture that is 🍻

Welcome PSH 💈✂️

We are delighted to announce our next new arrival of the summer, who has decided to make the move to us from Alton because we are so massive 👊 PSH has been well travelled across the UDSL over the years with various clubs and now he has found his way to the ‘Fields

PSH is pictured here during his discussions with B***y where unfortunately he failed to sort the gaffer’s hairline

Players comments - “Delighted to sign for the most decorated club around the area in recent times”

Managers comments - “I’m more bothered about what he will bring to us on the pitch than what he can do with my fringe. Delighted to have him and hopefully he can keep doing what he did last week at Cheadle as I’m loving the Pish & Chips puns that Lace is coming out with”

PSH along with the other new arrivals are in line to make their competitive debuts on Thursday as we kick off the season at home to Charlie Bassetts

We are delighted to finally officially announce the signing of Will Hepburn, who makes the switch across the B5017 to join us from Marchington

Tubes finally fulfils his long time ambition of playing Sunday football with his close friends JJ and Madri Harper and they all correctly decided in the end that ‘Fields was the place to be

Player comments - “I just love how toxic it is in the WhatsApp chat. I think I can add a lot to that and I definitely fit right in as I was literal acid at one point in my life. I’ll try and score a few goals as well don’t worry about that”

Lace’s comments - “I targeted young William because I see myself in him a little bit, firstly a goalscorer and secondly we both have a horrifically low pH number, those are the kinds of lads we want with us this season”

Tubes wanted to wear number 69 but unfortunately our numbers only go up to 26 so he gets what he’s given every week

We had a run out yesterday afternoon as we welcomed Men Unite to ‘Fields Sports & Social Club. The match day programme might have read Oldfields vs Men Unite however the reality was more Ragarse Rovers vs Bare Bones Albion. It was a proud day for Mr and Mrs Trialist as several of their sons got runouts and we even got Dodger out of bed for a stint in nets 🧤

We went in 1-0 down at half time when Tim Howard tried to flick the ball over the striker but fu**ed it up. Trialist Tubes turned the game on its head for us in the second half, first squeezing the ball in from a tight angle then putting us ahead with a long range pearler

If Ant Malbon in goal for the visitors had settled for just looking like prime Petr Cech instead of playing like him we may well have added to our lead but unfortunately it wasn’t to be and we conceded three late goals for sh*ts and giggles. 4-2 in the end and we wish Men Unite well for the season unless we meet in the Sunday FA Cup again

We go again next week at home to Lambourne in the battle of the previous two winners of the Sentinel Cup

I realise I probably gave this away in Sundays report but we are delighted to formally introduce our first new arrival of the summer - please give a warm welcome to former Tean Albion and Churnet Albion man Josh Downie 🙌

Capable of playing in either centre mid or defence, Josh spent last season in the Coors League but you may remember him from when he lobbed Scabby from nearly halfway whilst playing for Churnet the other season - so from here on now his will be Ronaldowniho 🇧🇷

Players comments - “Big thanks to Lace for getting this done. Obviously we all know the ‘Fields have been one of the top teams around recently but I have to say what a great bunch of people they are as well. Proper sound lot and it’s really not true what everyone says about them”

Managers comments - “He’ll give us some nice versatility and I was impressed with him on Sunday even though he nearly scored a magnificent own goal and his boots had more holes than Swiss cheese. I’ve got about a million pairs in a black bin bag in my car so we can easily sort that out anyway”

Josh will wear whatever number shirt he picks out each week because this is Sunday league and we don’t have fixed squad numbers

‘Fields claimed the Wiggy Lakin Shield this morning after a 2-1 victory over Bramshall in a game that at times in the second half reminded me of the England game last night just with a lot less goals, as Lace claimed victory in his first game as joint manager

A solid first half display at both ends of the pitch saw us take a 2-0 lead with Madri Harper (shock) nodding home from a corner and Charlie Rat showing great doggedness and persistence chasing down the keeper and dispossessing him and finishing well from a tight angle

The second period was more end to end with plenty of chances for both sides and after a great save from Scabby and new signing Downie had somehow managing to hit his own crossbar with a diving header from outside the area, Brammy halved the deficit through John Thacker’s sumptuous half volley into the corner, after having had a season ticket in Wiggy’s pocket up until then

We could have had more goals on the counter but both Lowey and Clarkey couldn’t finish their dinner, meanwhile Brammy thought they’d grabbed an equaliser in the dying embers when they kicked the ball into the net for the second time but unfortunately for them somebody fouled somebody else in the build up

Credit to Bebbo’s barmy army for playing their part in a good competitive game played in the right spirits, it was a good test for us and the lads looked sharp other than Trialist who lasted twenty minutes

Thank you to Dodger for doing the presentation after the game and I shall formally announce our new signings this week so keep your eyes peeled for that 👀
