Great Athletes Visit

We were delighted to have former Commonwealth Judoka, Connie Ramsay, visit Ullapool Primary as a part of the Great Athletes initiative. She took the pupils through a fun circuit before talking to them about how she won her bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. We finished off with a Q&A and a quick demonstration of some Judo moves.

Teen First Aid

On Tuesday 9th June, we welcomed Mini First Aid to Ullapool High School to put some of the young leaders through their first aid.

They learnt about important topics such as cpr, how to use a defribilator, abdominal thrusts, and how to deal with different injuries.

Thanks to Michelle from Mini First Aid for her time.

Also a big thank you to the Tesco Grant Funding which supported covering the costs to make this free for the young leaders. This was supported by our High Life Highland Leadership Programme officer who secured the funding. Thank you Elizabeth!

Some exciting news coming from Sport Scotland this afternoon!

A big thank you to all of our volunteers and young leaders for their time & committment in supporting after school clubs for Ullapool High School pupils.

We are absolutely delighted that Ullapool High School has achieved the Gold sportscotland School Sport Award — the highest level of national recognition for school sport and physical activity in Scotland.

This award recognises the strength of sport, physical activity and wellbeing across our school community, including participation opportunities, pupil leadership, inclusion and partnership working.

It reflects the commitment of our staff, Active Schools partners, coaches, volunteers and, most importantly, our young people, who continue to represent the school with enthusiasm, teamwork and pride.

Boxing Taster Session 🥊

Thanks to David McGowan, formerly the coach of the Bobby Keddie Boxing Club, who took the participants through a boxing taster session yesterday over the in-service day.

It was a great chance for the participants to see what goes into a boxing session and learn some of the techniques used.

We are hoping to get a boxing fitness club started up but we are in need of more volunteers to make that happen. If you're interested then get in touch via [email protected]

⭐️ Young Leaders ⭐️

Well done to Abi Gourlay, Bella Macdonald, & Perla Nutu who have completed over 5 hours of volunteering with Active Schools!

These three have been fantastic in helping run the local badminton sessions for P3-P7 pupils alongside our volunteer Dave Maxwell.

Not only that, they have also contributed to the running of the NW Swimming Gala & Cross Country events. They have been a joy to work with!
