We wanted to take a moment to explain the decision to introduce a parking charge at Trowbridge Rugby Club this season.
We fully appreciate that nobody likes an additional cost, but there are a few important reasons behind the decision.
Firstly, our supporters are being charged for parking/entry at every 1st XV away fixture this season. As a club, we have tried to take a consistent approach and apply the same principle at home. To re-emphasise, the charge does not apply to club members on production of a club membership card..
Secondly, the level of rugby we are now playing brings with it increased costs and responsibilities. Every season at this level requires significant investment, both on and off the pitch, and income from matchdays helps us continue to operate, compete and provide the best possible experience for our players and supporters.
Finally, the initiative is also in direct response to the Wiltshire Council Planning, The Highways Agency and neighbours comments with respect to the level of traffic and vehicle usage associated with the site, particularly for 1st XV home fixtures and where there are 2 senior teams playing at home. The Club wants to encourage car sharing wherever possible. With a large number of supporters travelling to games, car sharing is a simple way to reduce the number of vehicles on site, ease pressure on parking and help reduce our overall environmental impact.
We know this wonβt be welcomed by everyone, and we completely understand that. However, this isnβt a decision weβve taken lightly. Itβs about ensuring we can continue to move forward as a club, compete at the level we are now playing at, and make sure the club remains sustainable for the future.
We really appreciate the continued support of everyone who comes through the gates each week. Your support makes a huge difference.
