**TJs Academy - Information Evening (19th June)**

With ambitious plans for next season, TJs Academy is holding an information evening for prospective new players and parents on Friday 19th June at the club (18:30 start). This includes girls who are in School Years 9 & 10 (U16G next season) and 11 & 12 (U18G next season). No commitment is required. All playing abilities and experience levels are welcome.

Led by head coach Gareth Withers, TJs Academy is the leading grassroots set up in the country and has been hugely successful. The U16 Girls squad are current Kent Cup Champions, RFU London & South East Winners and National Cup Semi Finalists. The club is always looking for new players.

**TJs Academy Awards Night - 2026**

TJs Academy held their annual awards dinner last Friday. It was the biggest and best one yet with over 260 players and parents in attendance. The event was so big it had to be staged in a marquee. With Head of Academy Gareth Withers leading proceedings, it was a great way to end the season. A special congratulations to all the award winners from the girls' squads.

**TJs U14 Girls Win Devon Big Bash 10s Festival!**

TJs U14 Girls were on tour last weekend and entered the Devon Big Bash 10s Festival hosted at Ivybridge RFC. It was an enjoyable and well organised event. The TJs squad were crowned overall winners after victories against Trojans, Ampthill, Winchleigh, Birr (visiting from Co.Offaly, Ireland) and a hard fought draw against Ivybridge. The standard of rugby was high.

The previous day had been spent at an outdoor activity centre and the local beach. The girls had a fantastic time. Some great fancy dress was on display. Theme was 'Beside the Sea'! It was a great way to end the season. There was added emotion as the Yr-9s will be moving up to U16s next season and entering TJs Academy. This was the squad's last fixture together until 2027/28!

**TJs Academy U16 Girls - Kent Sevens Champions!**

TJs Academy U16 Girls were crowned Kent Sevens Champions yesterday after a successful day at the annual end of season tournament. With many playing full pitch sevens for the first time, the squad showed great handling and athleticism in wins over Old Shanterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Aylesford / Medway and Sevenoaks to progress through to the Cup Final against Dartfordians.

The Final was a game of very fine margins. The match could of gone either way. The TJs squad managed to edge a highly competitive contest 20-19 to take the win. The work rate and resilience were to be commended. It was a great game of sevens rugby. Congratulations to all involved.

**TJs Academy U16 Girls - Kent Cup Champions!**

TJs Academy U16 Girls were crowned Kent Cup Champions yesterday after beating Dartfordians 32-7 in an entertaining final. Played on neutral ground the large crowd were treated to a highly competitive game of rugby. The TJs squad delivered one of their best performances of the season. It was controlled and mature. Dartfordians just could not build any momentum.

Playing on the Beccehamians 1st team pitch the TJs squad started the match strongly laying the foundations for a solid win. The team used the width of the pitch to good effect throughout the match. However, despite the team scoring six well worked tries the match was ultimately won with committed defence. The players worked hard for each other against tough, well organised opponents. Coaches and parents were very proud.

TJs Academy U16 Girls will now conclude the season at the Kent Sevens tournament this Sunday 3rd May. All support is welcome.

**TJs Academy U16 & U18 Girls - Open Training Sessions for Years 9-12**

Due to popular demand, TJs Academy is running further taster sessions for prospective new players in school years:

🟦 9 & 10 (U16G next season)

The sessions will take place on Wednesday 22nd April and 29th April on the Judd School 3G pitch (Vizards) from 18:45 - 20:30. All playing abilities and experience levels are welcome. No commitment is required.

**TJs Academy U16 Girls Draw 19-19 with Beccehamians / Dartford Valley in the Kent Cup**

It was the Kent Cup Semi Final on Sunday and TJs Academy U16 Girls were away at Beccehamians / Dartford Valley (Beccs Valley). It was an intense physical game. Beccs Valley were very direct and applied a lot of pressure at the breakdown. Both sides pushed for the win in the final stages, but the game ended in an honourable draw.

With both teams having scored 3-tries TJs were declared the winner as the away team based on competition rules. However, both squads would no doubt have preferred to play a period of extra time. Beccs Valley were great hosts and we wish them well in their remaining fixtures.

**U10 / U11 Girls - Kent Festival (Gravesend)**

It was the annual Kent Festival yesterday and TJs U10 / U11 girls team travelled to Gravesend RFC to play in the girls pool. Taking a squad of 9-players, including a friend from Edenbridge, the focus was on building from the recent festival at Ashford. With a smaller squad than usual due to some school trips the team had to work hard and maintain energy in every game.

The TJs squad are developing quickly and put in a series of strong performances against decent opponents. It was great to see their confidence build with each game. A huge thank you to Gravesend RFC for hosting the event. The festival was a great success.
