An unusual and rather noisy bird (possibly of the species Coastguardus Volans?) flew over The Fauld on Friday afternoon. The Highland fillies were a tad overexcited about the unexpected arrival (I was slightly concerned they might jump the fence at one point!), but the sheep remained pretty ‘nonchewelant’ … 🚁 🐑 🐴 🙃

“Into each life, some rain must fall” - but it needn’t spoil your holiday on the Isle of Mull!

The month of May always brings a myriad of wildflowers (including the first orchids) to our wee hill and much joy to the hearts of our Hebridean hikers. Look carefully and you may also spot a damselfly! If you are coming to the Isle of Mull this summer or autumn, be sure to book your guided tour of the farm (and flowers!) by messaging us direct via Instagram or Facebook. 🌼 🌺 🌸

Spending a day or two in Tobermory this summer or autumn? Here’s a suggestion for you - on the doorstep and yet it feels as if you’re miles away … 🌊🐑⛰️🌼🐴

Another guid Scots word for you. When the winter wind (or stiff summer breeze!) is blowing, it’s great to be able to ‘coorie in’ out on the hill … 🐑 ⛰️ 🪨

And it’s a wrap - Erray Stud foaling 2026 is officially over. Welcome to Erray Dandelion, Erray Daisy, Erray Douglas Fir and (early this morning!) Erray Desert Orchid. Three lads and a lassie (Daisy). Thank you to Rebecca Norton-Childs for some of the gorgeous photos of the older foals and of their daddy Tiger (aka Whin of Shielhill). He’s such a great dad - so gentle with both mares and foals alike. 🐴 🤎 🤎 🤎🤎

This is really important information – if you are out and about in the countryside (and it’s important for both physical and mental health to do so!), make sure you do a “tick check” when you get home!

This year, I’m trying to keep a record of the flowers that appear on the farm every month from spring onwards. How many of the April floral visitors can you name? Book on one of our Hebridean Farm Hikes and come and meet our lovely flowers in person! PS: The flowers in the pot aren’t wild, but they were so pretty we had to include them! 🌺 🍃 🌼
