A great day on the water today for the different fleets in the club.

The cruiser fleet was busy launching the final boats into the water before heading out for a sail over towards Wales, while the Dart fleet were out racing and enjoying some close competition.

A big thank you to Lorraine and the Social Team for keeping everyone fed and watered!

With one of our Cruisers in Lancashire and a few in Llandudno for the Bank Holiday weekend, the summer weather is definitely here. Also the first dolphins of the season have been spotted!

It’s starting to feel a bit like summer!

3 Cruisers launched, 6 Darts headed out for a trip around Hilbre, and the Juniors were out towards Wales. Great to see so many boats out on the water and making the most of good weather!

Remember we have Dart 16's available for free to members if you want to join in!

I took a trip up to Fleetwood today to visit the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI).

Their volunteer watch keepers keep an eye out for people who may be vulnerable on the water, monitoring activity along the coast and reporting anything that might need additional assistance.

As we head back into the sailing season, remember the NCI while you’re out on the water.

You can give them a shout on VHF Channel 65 for:
• Radio checks
• Up to date weather and sea state updates
• General local information

Using Channel 65 for routine calls also helps keep Channel 16 clear for genuine emergencies.

Look them up online to see more of what they do and where your nearest NCI station is!

Thanks for having me! NCI Fleetwood

Back in November, we posted that Steve had completed his Yacht Master Theory.
After 5 days at sea around Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula, Steve has now completed his RYA Coastal Skipper. One step closer to his Yacht Master!
Well done Steve!

A huge thank you to for welcoming some of our members this evening and giving us a fantastic tour of the station and its life-saving equipment.

The RNLI means a great deal to us all. We know that if something goes wrong for us on the water, it’s likely the brave men and women of the RNLI who will be coming to help in any weather or conditions.

We’re also grateful for the incredible work they do day to day to keep the residents of the Wirral and everyone using our local waters safe.

Despite Storm Dave rolling in, we managed a little sailing before gusts forced the race to stop.
Huge thanks to our four safety boat crews, who stayed out in winds over 40 knots to ensure every sailor returned safely, remaining on the water until a beach recovery was possible.
A big shout out to the beach team, wading waist and chest deep into the surf to get boats ashore.
A fantastic team effort all round!

Storm Dave might have stopped most of the sailing this weekend, but it certainly didn’t stop the spirit of the club!

While the weather kept many boats ashore and cancelled two days of sailing, we made the most of it and enjoyed the social side as we kicked off the UKIDA Dart season.

Friday night’s Country themed evening was brilliant! A huge thank you to Hoppo and our social team for all the hard work that went into organising it.
