Our U17 boys travelled to Bishopton today for a 10s tournament, taking on Lanark, Allan Glens and the hosts. The lads finished with 1 win and 2 losses, showing plenty of promise throughout the day.

Player of the Day went to Jack Lawson for an outstanding performance.

Coach Jason McKie said: "There's still some work to do, but overall there was some great team play on show. It was also good to see Murray McNeil finally finding second gear!"

Well done to all the boys who represented the club today! 💪🏉

🏆 Youth Awards 25/26 🏆

We had a fantastic evening celebrating our youth players and recognising their hard work, commitment, and achievements throughout the season.

Congratulations to all of our players from our P7 Boys & Girls, U13 Girls, U15 Girls, U18 Girls, U13 Boys, U15 Boys and U17 Boys squads. It has been wonderful to see the progress, dedication and team spirit shown by every group throughout the year.

A massive thank you to all of our coaches for the countless hours they give to developing our young players, to our sponsors for their continued support, and to all of the parents and families who make youth rugby possible.

We would also like to thank everyone who helped make the evening such a success, from those involved in organising and setting up to everyone who contributed behind the scenes. Special thanks to Papa Rab's Restaurant for keeping everyone fed with a fantastic BBQ! 🔥

Congratulations to everyone who received an award, and well done to all of our players for another fantastic season. We are incredibly proud of what you have achieved and can't wait to see what next season brings! 🏉💙

We are delighted to announce that our Ladie’s team have been promoted to the newly formed National League for the 2026/27 season 🔥

The league will consist of West of Scotland, Greenock Wanderers, Ayr Ladies, Highland, and Dundee 1XV — presenting a new challenge for the squad, with some familiar opponents among them.

Alongside this, the team will also compete in the Sarah Beaney Cup, adding another exciting competition to the season ahead.

This is a brilliant achievement and reflects the hard work, commitment, and progress made over the past few years by players, coaches, and everyone involved in the team.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our supporters and sponsors for their continued backing — it makes a real difference.

If you are interested in joining the team, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch 🤩💙

Huge thanks to Celeste and Morag who recently held a charity night and raised a phenomenal amount of money for Stranraer Cancer Drop In Centre.

Within the prizes was a signed Scotland rugby ball which Wigtownshire Rugby Football Club kindly auctioned off for the ladies at their recent dinner dance!

Huge thanks to these two ladies and Pamela Muirhead from WRFC for helping to raise these vital funds for our centre.

🏉 PLAYER RECRUITMENT – JOIN WIGTOWNSHIRE RUGBY CLUB! 🏉

Wigtownshire Rugby Club is looking to strengthen both our Senior Men's and Women's squads ahead of the upcoming season.

🔥 Men's Team. Our men will compete in West 2 next season after narrowly missing out on promotion to West 1. With a talented squad and strong foundations in place, we're determined to challenge again.

🏆 Women's Team. Our women will play in the newly formed National 1 League and are looking to build on last season's league-winning success as they push for promotion to the Premiership.
Whether you're an experienced player, returning to the game, or looking for a new challenge, Wigtownshire offers a welcoming environment, great team spirit, and a competitive rugby programme.

As we reflect on this year’s Wigtownshire RFC Senior Annual Awards Dinner, we would like to congratulate all of our award winners and take a moment to thank everyone who helped make the evening such a tremendous success.

Firstly, our sincere thanks to Jimmy Tennant for saying grace and setting the tone for a wonderful evening.

Thank you to David Watson for doing an excellent job as our Master of Ceremonies. Your professionalism, humour and ability to keep the evening flowing smoothly were greatly appreciated.

A huge thank you goes to Lisa and the bar staff for their hard work throughout the night, ensuring everyone was well looked after.

Our gratitude also goes to Sally Hair and her catering team for providing such an excellent meal and service. Your efforts behind the scenes did not go unnoticed.

Thank you to the WRFC Committee for all the planning, organisation and countless hours of work that go into making events such as this possible. The continued success of our club is built on the dedication of volunteers like yourselves.

We were delighted to welcome our guests from Newton Stewart RFC, Stewartry RFC and Larne RFC. Thank you for joining us and for your continued friendship and support of Wigtownshire RFC.

Special thanks must also go to our guest speakers, Robin "Bomber" Hislop and Bruce Aitchison. Your stories, humour and insight entertained us all and added greatly to the occasion.

Thank you to Candice Docherty for her excellent work managing our social media. Your efforts helped highlight and celebrate the evening and allowed others to share in the occasion.

We would also like to recognise Stewart Hoad for his incredibly generous winning bid of £2,250 in our ball auction, with proceeds supporting the Stranraer Cancer Drop In Centre. This remarkable contribution will make a real difference to an organisation that provides invaluable support within our community.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended. Whether you are a player, coach, volunteer, sponsor, supporter or guest, your contribution to our club is greatly valued. Wigtownshire RFC is more than just a rugby club—it is a community, and evenings like this remind us of the strength of that community.

Congratulations once again to all of our award winners. Your commitment, dedication and contribution to Wigtownshire RFC throughout the season are thoroughly deserved and worthy of recognition. We look forward to celebrating many more successes together in the seasons ahead.

Thank you all for helping make this another memorable evening. 🏆

Tonight, we are delighted to support the Stranraer Cancer Drop in Centre by auctioning this rugby ball signed by players from both Scotland national rugby union team and New Zealand national rugby union team during the Autumn Internationals during the annual senior awards and dinner celebrations.

We hope our guests have deep pockets this evening as we raise funds for such a fantastic resource for our town. Cancer has touched all of us in one way or another, and we are proud to do our part to help support the invaluable work the centre provides to our community.
