Malachy served the Club with great dedication as Commodore, President, and as an Honorary Member, with Elaine by his side, they offered unwavering support to SSC, especially throughout the regatta seasons.

🌟 Volunteers’ Week 2026 🌟

This Volunteers’ Week, we want to say a huge thank you to all the incredible volunteers at Strangford Sailing Club.

From supporting training sessions and race days to maintaining facilities, organising events, and welcoming new members, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and countless hours of hard work help make our club a thriving and inclusive community both on and off the water.

Over the past couple of days, Strangford Sailing Club was delighted to welcome P7 pupils from St.Joseph’s Primary School for sailing taster sessions on Strangford Lough.

The weather wasn’t exactly tropical, but we made the most of the conditions and had a fantastic time on the water. It was great to introduce the pupils to sailing and show off the beauty of Strangford Lough from a unique perspective.

A big thank you to all the pupils, teachers, Gerry and Jordan who helped make the sessions such a success. We hope to see some future sailors back on the water soon!⛵️

That’s a wrap on the SSC Flying Fifteen Northern Championship! ⛵

The final day (Sunday 31st May) brought light and shifty conditions on Strangford Lough, with the Race Committee doing a fantastic job to get one race completed.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers who made the event possible, especially the Race Committee, Rescue Boat crews and Catering Team. Special thanks also to Eimear bakes and Brendan Arthurs Butchers for keeping everyone so well fed throughout the weekend.

Day 1 of the Flying Fifteen Northern Championships is complete! ⛵

A fantastic start to the event, with 18 F15s taking to the water on Strangford Lough for three highly competitive races in near-perfect sailing conditions. The fleet enjoyed steady breeze and sunshine, making for an excellent day of racing and some close battles throughout the course.

After an intense day of racing, competitors were treated to a well-earned BBQ ashore, providing the perfect opportunity to relax, refuel, and share stories from the day’s action.

With three races now in the books and plenty still to play for, the stage is set for another exciting day on the water today.

OnBoard Fridays are back!!🎉

There was a great buzz around the club tonight as we kicked off our first OnBoard Friday of the season! After a long winter, it was fantastic to get back on the water with friends, learning new skills and building confidence, ☀️

Our Racing group worked hard perfecting their starts ahead of the season.
