Donegal Youth Matchplay Champions 2026! 🏆⛳💙
Huge congratulations to our Youth Team on being crowned Donegal Youth Matchplay Champions for 2026, following a super victory over Dunfanaghy in Sunday’s final at Letterkenny Golf Club.
The lads produced a tremendous performance against a talented Dunfanaghy side, with the contest decided by the very finest of margins. In a fitting conclusion to a high-quality affair, the destination of the title went right to the wire, decided on the final hole of the last match, with Liam Curran showing nerves of steel to sink the winning putt!
This success is the culmination of a brilliant campaign, with memorable victories over Ballyliffin, Letterkenny and now Dunfanaghy securing a well-deserved Youth Matchplay title. Every member of the squad has played a vital role throughout the competition and can take immense pride in this achievement.
Congratulations to Dunfanaghy GC on a tremendous campaign and for their contribution to such a memorable final. The match was played in a competitive but extremely sporting manner, reflecting great credit on both clubs and to the players involved. Dunfanaghy have an abundance of talent at youth level, and I have no doubt they will be there at the business end of youth competitions in the years ahead. Thanks to Fergal Callan and the team at Dunfanaghy for making it such an occasion.
Special thanks to Ed Harvey as administrator for the Donegal Youth Matchplay competition and for his assistance throughout the campaign.
Thanks also to Seamus Patton and everyone at Letterkenny Golf Club for providing an excellent venue and hosting a superb final.
We are also grateful to our club officials, volunteers, parents, supporters and everyone who contributes to the success of junior golf at Strabane Golf Club. It is your support that makes achievements like this possible.
Particular thanks to Gerry in the Club Shop for ensuring the team was so well turned out in club colours and for his continued support throughout the year. Entering and facilitating participation in team events throughout the year is only possible through the time, effort and commitment of all involved.
Finally, to our players: Enjoy the moment. You have all worked incredibly hard, showing dedication and commitment to improve both personally and collectively. You have represented Strabane Golf Club with distinction throughout the competition, and have done yourselves, your families and your Club proud.
Donegal Youth Matchplay Champions 2026!
A nice way to round off the year and a huge inspiration to all our junior membership!
