🌟 INTERNATIONAL CALL-UP 🌟

We are absolutely bursting with pride to announce that our very own Imogen Jones has been selected for the Northern Ireland Women’s Under-15 Development Squad for the Associations Cup! πŸ’™πŸ’›

A proud member of our U15 Flames, Imogen heads to Limerick this weekend to represent her country alongside 17 other talented young players.

The girls take on some exciting opposition at the University of Limerick:

A brilliant day had by all at the World Cup tournament hosted by Lisnafin Ardnalee Trust Community Centre.

A last minute entry saw us round up a few 2016 and 2015 born girls, to take part in this well organised community event.

Our girls did superb, facing off against a number of strong boys teams, and a few community based teams pulled together just for the day.

The intensity, tempo and talent on show was great, as was the atmosphere.

Watching the Sion Sonics open proceedings and cheered on by everyone as well as an opening ceremony parade of the teams.

Massive credit must go to the organisers and volunteers on hand all day, they did a such a great job.

A dominant display from the Cyclones, attacking constantly throughout. Despite chance after chance, including a long-range effort crashing off the post, the breakthrough wouldn’t come. HT: 0-0.

The pressure continued in the second half until, with minutes left, a great team move set up the winning goal, finishing clinically into the box.

π—™π—¨π—Ÿπ—Ÿ 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 π—₯π—˜π—£π—’π—₯𝗧 | Sion Swifts Ladies 1-1 Greenisland FC

After a three-week break from league action, Sion Swifts Ladies returned to the Melvin Sports Complex and were held to a 1-1 draw by Greenisland FC.

Swifts had great opportunity from Crozier after Milligan picked her out but Greenisland Keeper shut her down well.

The visitors started strongly and took the lead after 29 minutes through a superb long-range strike from Wheeldon. Greenisland had the chance to extend their advantage before half-time from the penalty spot, but the effort was dragged wide.

The second half belonged to the Swifts. Ellie McGarrigle and Niamh Coyle were outstanding at the back as the hosts pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

The goal arrived on the hour mark when Caoimhne Heron reacted quickest in the box to make it 1-1.

Swifts continued to press, with Zoe Green, Grace Dickson, Brooke Milligan, Ava Crozier and Clarah Quigg all going close, but Greenisland held firm to earn a share of the spoils.

A frustrating result after a dominant second-half display, but another point on the board.

🚨 HISTORY MADE! 🚨

Our U8 Typhoons played their very first ever tournament on Thursday evening at the Ryan McBride Foundation Summer Cup… and came home as CHAMPIONS! πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ’›

From their very first match, the girls set the tone, showing all the strength and experience they’ve built playing up in the U9 D&D league. With every game that followed, they just got stronger and stronger! πŸ’ͺ

The final saw them go up against Phoenix again, who started brilliantly and gave our girls a real test early on. But the Typhoons never stopped believing, fought back superbly, and turned the game around to lift the Summer Cup in style! πŸ₯‡

A massive well done to Niamh, who was named Player of the Final after stepping into goal for the last two games and pulling off some brilliant saves to help the team get over the line! 🧀⚽️

Every single girl played their part and should be so proud of themselves. First tournament, first trophy… what a moment for this team! πŸ’™πŸ’›βš½οΈπŸ†

A hard-fought evening at Melvin Sports Complex sees the points shared as Sion Swifts Ladies and Greenisland FC play out a 1-1 draw.
