⏳ Only TWO days to go! ⛳🏆

The countdown is on as our Jock Stewart Team prepares for the CAGU Jock Stewart Final at Links Newmarket this Saturday.

Our boys face a tough test against Gog Magog over 36 holes of foursomes match play, with one of Cambridgeshire’s most prestigious team trophies up for grabs.

Everyone at St Neots Golf Club wishes the team the very best of luck. Go out there, enjoy the occasion and give it everything!

💙 Supporters are more than welcome! If you’d like to come along, cheer the team on or even caddy, your support would be hugely appreciated.

📱 We’ll also be bringing you updates throughout the day, so keep an eye on our page as we follow the action and hopefully bring that trophy back to St Neots!

Come on St Neots! 💙⛳🏆

🦋 Our Ecological Journey Begins…

As part of our commitment to improving biodiversity at St Neots Golf Club, we have held our very first moth trapping survey to help us understand the incredible wildlife already calling our course home.

A humane moth trap was set just before sunset and left overnight for nature to work its magic. This morning, the moths were carefully identified on the patio before being safely released back into the wild. At no point were they harmed or placed under any distress.

The results were fascinating…

🌿 64 moths representing 31 different species were identified (excluding the hundreds of Water Veneers that were also recorded!).

Some of the highlights included:
🦋 Jersey Tiger
🦋 Poplar Hawk-moth
🦋 Buff-tip
🦋 White Ermine
🦋 Beautiful China-mark
🦋 Ringed China-mark
🦋 Chinese Character
🦋 Marbled Clover

Along with many more species that demonstrate just how important our golf course is as a haven for wildlife.

A huge thank you goes to our Treasurer Andy Webb for organising the survey & County Moth Recorder Lois Clark for sharing her expertise and helping us identify the species we found, and to everyone who came along to take part.

This is just the first step in our ecological journey. Over the coming months and years we’ll continue to monitor wildlife across the course, install more habitat features and build a clearer picture of the biodiversity that makes St Neots Golf Club such a special place.

🌱 Golf and nature can thrive together – and we’re excited to see where this journey takes us.

🌿 Discover the Hidden Wildlife at St Neots Golf Club 🦋

Did you know that our golf course is home to an incredible variety of wildlife?

As part of our ongoing commitment to conservation, we’re excited to be holding our first ever Moth Trapping Evening on Monday 3rd August, supported by County Moth Recorder Lois Clark.

The trap will be opened and the moths identified on Tuesday 4th August at 9.00am on the clubhouse patio, and we’d love for members—and their children or grandchildren—to come along and discover what’s been flying around our course overnight.

🌿 Places are limited, so if you’d like to take part, please contact the Club Office to reserve your place.

This is just the beginning of an exciting conservation programme at St Neots Golf Club. Over the last five years we’ve recorded 72 different bird species, highlighting just how important our course is as a haven for wildlife.

Future plans include:
🦉 Installing more bird and nest boxes
🌸 Creating additional wildflower areas
🦋 Monitoring and encouraging greater biodiversity across the course

If you have an interest in wildlife and would like to help shape our conservation work, we’d love to hear from you. Please let the office know and become part of this exciting new initiative.

⛳ Len Shaw Trophy 2026 ⛳

Today saw ten couples take to the course to compete for the Len Shaw Trophy.

Mixed Foursomes is always a true test of teamwork and strategy, but the dry, firm conditions made the challenge even greater, rewarding accuracy and course management throughout the day.

Congratulations to our winners, Trish & Steve Sizer, who claimed the trophy with an excellent nett 70, edging out Tina & Phil Woodward, who also returned a nett 70 but had to settle for runners-up after countback.

Well played to everyone who took part in another enjoyable day of competitive golf. 👏🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️

As a committee we are constantly challenged on acceptable golfing attire.

Would you accept Nelly’s clothing?

There’s not a wrong or right answer here, just opinion on how times are changing.

🏆 Congratulations to our Jock Stewart Finalists! 🏆

A home semi-final was always going to be a tough assignment for our opponents from Brampton Park Golf Club, and our team rose to the occasion in style, securing victory in all three matches to book their place in the final.

👏 A fantastic performance from the boys!

Well done Nathan Temby, Luke Dawson, John Shivers, Garry Savin, Scott Taylor & Keith Broome you’ve done your club proud.

The 36-hole final will take place against Gog Magog at Links Newmarket on Saturday 8th August.

We’d love to see as many members as possible there to cheer the team on. Whether you’d like to caddy or simply come along to support, your encouragement could make all the difference.

💙 Let’s get behind the team and turn Links Newmarket into a sea of blue.

Let’s make it a party… and bring the trophy home! ⛳🏆
