Merched y Môr

Merched y Môr All female team from Pembrokeshire, West Wales, racing in the World’s Toughest Row Atlantic 2025

https://www.worldstoughestrow.com We are Merched y Môr.

We’re four ordinary women from Pembrokeshire who want to do something extraordinary. We want to show that nothing – not gender, not our aging bodies, not even our own minds can stop us from achieving great things. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and we’re grabbing it by the oars! We’re made of tough stuff, living by the edge of the sea, so we know that we have the determination and motivatio

n to complete this test for ourselves and for our chosen charities; RNLI, Sea Trust Wales, Action for Children and The Popham Fund. Meet our crew:
Liz - "Why not take on a massive challenge, why not discover a new sport, why not make new life-long friends, why not scare myself silly, why not achieve something absolutely remarkable?"

Helen - "My 5 children are now grown up and by 2025 my grandchildren will be old enough to understand where I’ve rowed to". Denise - "I'm doing this to show my children what can be achieved if you take a chance in life and are brave enough to try; and for all women who can think of a million reasons why it shouldn't be them". Heledd - "Why did I decided to embark on this most epic of challenges? Well, it’s simple really, like our friend Bilbo Baggins, I’m going on an adventure….!"

🌊🚣‍♀️ From 3,000 miles at sea to supporting those who save lives at sea.

On Thursday, we were incredibly proud to hand over a cheque for £18,000 to the RNLI, raised through our row across the Atlantic Ocean.

Completing the challenge was a huge achievement in itself, but seeing the funds presented to such an essential lifesaving charity is what makes every mile, every wave and every challenge truly worthwhile.

The money has been shared equally between the four Pembrokeshire RNLI stations, helping to support the volunteers who are on call day and night, in all conditions, to save lives at sea. For local stations, donations like this help ensure crews have the resources, training and support they need to continue their vital work keeping our coastal communities and visitors safe.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored, supported and followed our journey. This achievement belongs to all of you. Together, we've turned an extraordinary adventure into practical support for the volunteers who dedicate themselves to helping others.

From the vast Atlantic Ocean to making a real difference at home. 🌊❤️

We're delighted to hand over a cheque for £18,000, raised during our 3,000-mile Atlantic rowing challenge.

Completing the row was a life-changing experience, but knowing that the journey has helped raise these vital funds makes every mile worthwhile.

For a small charity like Sea Trust Wales, donations of this size can have a truly transformative impact. The funding will help support their vital work protecting and promoting marine wildlife, educating future generations, and inspiring people to value and care for our coastal environment. It also provides the confidence and resources needed to continue making a difference in our communities.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported and encouraged us every step of the way.

Podcast (the first but not the last!!) released today! We love telling our story and talking about the row, but more than that getting the message out to all women and girls that they belong in Adventure, that they can do what others might see as crazy.. and it feels just amazing to do that as a crew of sisters who will always have each others backs. ❤️
