Welcome to Pembrokeshire Nordic Walking where we love to be outdoors walking in the wonderful natural environment of Pembrokeshire and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Why work out in the gym when you can get your exercise in the company of other Nordic Walkers, whilst enjoying fresh air, natural beauty and discovering traces left in the landscape by our ancestors thousands of years ago? At
Pembrokeshire Nordic Walking our sole focus is on Nordic Walking. Dave is an INWA Nordic Walking Instructor, certified by British Nordic Walking and he works together with Philipa to provide taster sessions, scheduled classes to learn the most effective Nordic Walking technique and regular weekly walks. We cater for both local residents and visitors to Pembrokeshire and support the Age Cymru Nordic Walking Programme. What is Nordic Walking? Nordic walking is a whole body exercise, using specially adapted poles, which originally evolved from cross-country skiing on Finland. It is low cost (you really only need the poles and suitable outdoor clothing) and can be done by virtually anyone, virtually anywhere. If you haven’t exercised for a while or don’t like traditional sports or gyms then this could be for you! The Benefits of Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking combines the simplicity and accessibility of walking with simultaneous core and upper body conditioning similar to Nordic skiing. The result is a full body workout (you’ll be using around 80% of your skeletal muscles), which means that you:
• burn up to 46% more calories compared to walking without poles
• release tension in the neck and shoulders
• improve your posture and gait
• strengthen your back and abdominal muscles
• reduce the impact on your joints
And because Nordic Walking doesn’t feel like hard work you’ll be happy to walk further and for longer. Oh, …… and you’ll feel good too!
