What happens when the weather is being British? Do we cancel?

Climbing could be seen as climbing only, but there is so much more to it and so much to learn. Whether that is knots or routes, abseils or lead climbing, but when the weather allows we learn about other stuff, including traditional abseils.

Look for fun activities for your kids this May half term and the summer holidays, look no further. We run engaging and active outdoor rock climbing days at Brimham Rocks or Ilkley Cow & Calf. 🌧️ or ☀️

These days are action packed for 7-17 year olds, with climbing, abseiling and weaselling, pushing them out their comfort zone to have a go at a variety of skills and opportunities. 🪨

🧗‍♀️ £62.50 per child, sibling discounts available

🧗‍♂️ Brimham Rocks and Ilkley Cow & Calf are both OFSTED registered for those with childcare vouchers.

We don’t just host kids sessions and clubs, we also run beginner to advanced climbing courses for adults. This also includes refreshers and private sessions to develop or renew skills or just have a go for the day.

Recently we had Kerry and Jez at Ilkley Cow & Calf, for bouldering and climbing, with some abseils in for good measure and tackle the fear a little more head on. Eventually the cold got to us, but we had a cracking day. Check out the Google Review below.

Our climbing clubs for both school and home educated children are back on after the Easter holidays starting the w/c 13th April.

We run one of the most unique climbing clubs that we know of in the world, and we are yet to find another organisation who does. This includes teaching/coaching/developing young people regularly both indoor and outdoor skills, covering bouldering, top-roping and lead climbing (sport and trad). If you are unsure what that means, it's a lot of skills.

However, as much as we are proud of the skills we teach, our main focus is building confidence and self-esteem in the young person, in a non-competitive and supportive environment. This also means we don't encourage them to pursue certificates or any syllabus, unless they choose to do so. This removes pressure and they learn at their pace.

When I started this in 2022, I never knew it would become this successful, producing amazing results for their climbing and supporting shy young people in to confident and amazing people.

Climb at any number of the amazing climbing centres in the area? If you lead climb and you’re keen to get outdoors on Sport routes, why not check out our courses that go through as many of the skills as you need to get started.

If there is 2-3 of you, you can also receive a group discount and potentially book dates that suit you better.

Our Mountain Training Learn to Lead Sport Skills next courses are:

6th - 7th June & 8th - 9th July

You need to have climbing experience belaying as minimum on top rope for several months, if you lead climb and belay as well, that will help speed things along nicely.

Great weather and amazing day at Almscliffe today with the climbing club. Loads of bouldering in the morning to engage our brains back to grit after what feels like an eternity indoors, and some bottom ropes to build head for heights back up.

Harry even managed Flying Arête, f6b which is a solid win. We don’t manage to boulder at Ilkley all that much. Good effort mate, only a little bit jealous.

It’s always a little daunting having an inspection, for which we get inspected by 4 bodies, Ofsted,Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, Mountain Training and Health and Safety Executive.

The big one, and the one that allows to operate legally with young people is our Adventurous Activities Licence Service, given by HSE. We have to demonstrate safe practice and we are reviewed every 2 years.

We are super pleased after a very positive inspection that we have been granted a further 2.5 years on our licence. The ability to continue our unique climbing clubs developing young people in all aspects of climbing.
