🏁 SHENINGTON ROUND 9 – RACE HIGHLIGHTS! 🔥

A few of my favourite moments from Round 9, including some great overtakes, close battles and the absolute mayhem at Turn 1 in Heat 1! 😅

From taking avoiding action and fighting my way back through the field to a double overtake at Stratford to take the lead in the final! 💪

Led for 3 laps, then one small mistake on the last lap cost me a shot at the win. Still managed to fight back around the outside at Wilkins to grab P3! 🏆

Some brilliant, clean racing with Katie Donaldson, Jack Wish and Brandon Edwards. That’s how racing should be! 👊

🏁 SHENINGTON ROUND 9 – P3! 🏆

So close to the win, but what a race!

A cold weekend at Shenington, with some great racing and a few lessons learnt along the way.

Heat 1: P4 → P3 after penalties. Had to take avoiding action at Turn 1 and dropped back to around P8, but managed to fight my way back.

Heat 2: P16 → P7. A tough drive through the field, putting me P3 on the grid for the final.

Final: P3 🏆

After a steady start, my tyres came in and I managed to overtake both drivers ahead heading into Stratford to take the lead! 🔥

Led for three laps before Katie Donaldson got back past. Then, on the final lap, I got a little too close heading into Bruno and had to brake harder than I wanted, losing all my momentum down Hangar Straight.

Dropped to P4 but managed to hang it around the outside at Wilkins to take P3 back!

One small mistake is all it takes. I had the pace to win, but I needed to defend more. Lesson learnt!

The best part was the racing. Four of us battling hard but clean, giving each other room. Exactly how it should be! 👊

🏁 Shenington Round 9 – 18th October! 🏎️

Only 2 rounds left in the championship and I’m currently sitting P2! 🏆

Back at Shenington this weekend and really looking forward to getting out on track again.

Hoping for a couple of strong, clean races to finish the season and keep the championship fight going!

There’s still everything to race for, so I’ll be giving it my best. Most importantly, I’m going out there to enjoy it! 💪

A few overtakes from Round 8 at Shenington 🔥🏁

Really enjoyed this race weekend. The kart felt mega and I was able to keep moving forward through the heats.

Heat 1: P10 ➡️ P3 + fastest lap and a new Junior X30 lap record 💪

Heat 2: P16 ➡️ P3, working my way through the pack again after the first start was red flagged.

🏁 Shenington Round 8 – Autumn Challenge

Definitely some positives to take from this one!

🔥 Heat 1: P10 ➡️ P3 + fastest lap AND a new Junior X30 lap record!

🔥 Heat 2: P16 ➡️ P3 + fastest lap again

The first Heat 2 start was red flagged after a big incident involving Theo Thomas. Really glad he was OK 🙏

Started the final from P2 on the front row. I dropped back to P5 after getting my positioning wrong in the front pack, but fought my way back to P3.

On the second-to-last lap I caught a backmarker at a bad point and had to lift, bringing the pack right back onto me.

Then on the last lap at Stratford I got pushed from behind and sent wide, letting three karts through. Thanks for using me as the brakes 😂 P7 over the line.

Not the result I wanted, but the pace is definitely there. The kart felt mega and I know I’ve still got work to do on my racecraft.

Most importantly though, I had fun. That’s why I started racing in the first place. 🏁

Shenington – Round 8 🏁

Back to Shenington on 20th September for the Autumn Challenge – Round 8.

Really looking forward to this one, but I’m going into it with a slightly different mindset.

The biggest thing I took away from racing at Rissington last weekend was simply to enjoy it. That’s why I started racing in the first place.

Yes, I’m still right in the championship fight and of course I want a good result, but I know I drive better when I’m relaxed, having fun and not putting loads of pressure on myself.

So that’s the plan for Round 8. Go out, enjoy driving the kart, race hard and see where we end up. 👊

Had the chance to have my second go in a KZ at Rissington at the weekend, squeezing in a few laps between my X30 practice sessions… and I absolutely love it! 🔥

The kart was set up for an adult, so it definitely wasn’t ideal for me, but I wasn’t going to turn down the chance 😂

Mega thanks to Neil for letting me take it out and trusting me not to bin it!

The speed, the power and shifting through the gears just feels right. Every time I get in one, I just want more.

Just wish I was a little bit older… 😬🏁

Great fun weekend at Rissington! 🏁

A bit different from our normal race weekends with a Formula Libre style format — set sprockets, used tyres and just getting out there to enjoy some racing.

Really happy to come away with 3 heat wins from 3, including fastest lap in two of them. Had some brilliant battles throughout the day and then the final went right down to the line, finishing P2 by just 0.08 seconds! 🤏

More importantly, I learnt a lot and really enjoyed being back at Rissington without the pressure of a championship weekend.

Massive thank you to Tim at TWM and everyone at Matrix for putting the weekend together, and to Rissington and all the marshals for making it happen.

Definitely need another weekend like this! 👊🏁

Back to Rissington! 🏁

Really looking forward to getting back out on track at Rissington this weekend for a bit of fun.

TWM and Matrix Group are putting on a Libre-style race for Juniors and Seniors, so it should be a great weekend with plenty of track time and some good racing.

It’s been a while since I’ve raced at Rissington, so I’m excited to get back there, enjoy the weekend and see what we can do. 👊

Really good to visit GEM in Warwick and meet the team 👋🏁

GEM is a local engineering company that we already know and use for bearings and engineering supplies, so having their support behind my racing means a lot.

It was great to take the kart down, meet the management from GEM and Rotamec Group, show them a bit more about what we do and have a proper chat about the racing.

GEM are now part of Rotamec Group, combining their local engineering knowledge and experience with a much wider UK engineering network.

Karting at this level takes a huge amount of support and every bit of help is genuinely appreciated. It gives us the opportunity to do more testing, get more seat time and keep pushing forward.

A massive thank you to everyone at GEM and Rotamec Group for taking the time to meet us and for getting behind Jack Baker Racing. It really does mean a lot. ❤️🏁

Hopefully we can give you plenty to cheer about! 👊
