Rotherham Sailing Club is a vibrant and competitive family club sailing on Harthill reservoir, which is between Sheffield and Worksop, with easy access from both the M1 and M18 motorways. It boasts a newly refurbished clubhouse with comfortable and friendly surroundings. There is a strong youth section with help and support available to beginners and improvers of all ages. There are also popular model yacht and Open Water Swimming (Yorkshire Outdoor Swimmers) sections.

We were sorry to hear that Rex, our trusty ever present Thursday night pie and pea safety boat crew, had a tumble at Rother Valley today and dislocated his shoulder.

We are one of the best value clubs anywhere in the UK. Free Lark dinghy for new family members 🚤
We've got a Lark dinghy sitting in the yard that's done its time with us, and rather than sell it on, we'd rather see it go to a family getting into sailing.
So here's the offer: any family joining Rotherham Sailing Club on a family membership (£160 for the year) can have the Lark, completely free.
It's an older boat and comes exactly as it stands — sold as seen, no warranty on condition, and any repairs or work needed would be down to the new owner. If you're handy, or know someone who's after a project boat to get a young sailor out on the water, this could be a good one.
First family to take us up on it gets it. Message the club or drop us an email at [email protected] if you're interested, and we'll discuss it!!

Could you help launch a young sailor's career? Dinghies wanted at Rotherham Sailing Club!

We're on the hunt for Toppers and Lasers to refresh our training fleet and keep our cadets out on the water. If you've retired from racing, upgraded your boat, or have one sitting unused in the garden gathering moss, it could find a brilliant new home with us — teaching the next generation to sail.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:

⛵️ A Topper — perfect for getting our cadets started

⛵ A Laser — great for progressing sailors onto something faster

What we're looking for: boats that are sailable as they are, or just need a bit of TLC — not full restoration projects. (And yes, we'll always come and have a proper look before saying yes — better that than discovering a soggy hull halfway through the season!)

Donations are a brilliant way to support grassroots sailing and give an old boat a second life, rather than a slow death in a garden corner. We're a small club and every boat makes a real difference to what we can offer our members and cadets.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, granddads, and father figures at RSC. ⛵- we salute you.
Today's photos span generations — from a member's dad, a Humber Keel sailor ("Wish he had lived long enough to teach me his skills"), to our Commodore's grandfather in his naval days, right through to dads on the helm today. Sailing has a way of running in families and in memories.
To everyone teaching the ropes, holding the tiller, or just making sure buoyancy aids are zipped up right — happy Father's Day. 💙

🌊⛵ CADET SECTION SPOTLIGHT ⛵🌊
What a fantastic few weeks it's been for our Rotherham Sailing Club cadets! Our young sailors have been out on the water, building confidence, making friends, and clearly having an absolute blast — and we couldn't be prouder of them or our Rotehrham Sailing Club Team making it all happen.

Don't just take our word for it — here's what our cadet parents have been saying this evening (we have their permission to share their whatsapp posts):

"Words can't express how happy and welcoming you guys have made all the 4 of us! It was pure joy tonight to see our kids thriving and being confident with what you have all worked hard to teach them on the water, alone for their first time! That is all down to you giving up your own free time to teach and coach, we have had the best 4 weeks and long may it continue!

Summer's finally here, and the water's calling.
Honestly, there's no better feeling than getting out on the water on a day like this. If you've ever fancied giving sailing a go, now's the time — our training courses are open and spaces are going quick.
New to it all? No worries, we'll get you out there and feeling confident before you know it. Sailed before? Come join the gang, we're a friendly bunch and always up for more people on the water with us.
All ages, all abilities — just come and have a go.
