Somewhere along the way, most of us learned to take ourselves very seriously. To perform. To optimise. To grow up, and then to keep growing up, as if there were a prize at the end of it.
But I've noticed something: the people I admire most; the ones who feel most alive; haven't outgrown their inner child. They've kept them close. They laugh easily. They get curious about strange things. They make space for play, for wonder, for the kind of joy that doesn't have to be earned.
When I'm honest with myself, my best ideas, my best moments, my most alive feelings, almost none of them come from the grown-up in me. They come from the part that still knows how to be delighted.
Adulthood asks a lot of us. But it doesn't actually require us to leave that part of ourselves behind. We just forget we're allowed to bring them along.
