A 3,500-mile journey, a week on one of Romania's most fascinating venues, and a session to remember for angling legend Steve Briggs.

Fishing Orlat Lake, Steve banked 16 carp during the trip, including 'The Godfather' at 68lb 8oz and the lake's impressive Black Carp at 80lb 8oz, a fish that reportedly put up an absolute battle before eventually finding the net.

The capture of the 68lb’er also marked a remarkable milestone for Steve, becoming the 11th different country in which he has landed a carp over 60lb. An incredible achievement that reflects years of dedication, travel and an unwavering passion for chasing special carp across Europe.

Throughout the trip, Steve fished Perfect Peach Wafters over Red Sea Squid and new test boilies.

Sixteen carp, two exceptional fish, and another chapter added to an already impressive angling journey.

One final fling on The Folly for Matt Poulton before the gates closed on an era.

With the lake moving to an exclusive booking-only format, the syndicate members had one last weekend to spend time on the bank and hopefully tempt a few more of its famous old residents.

Thankfully, the fish were in a giving mood.

Matt managed a brace of carp during the session, both falling to our new Sugar Plums hook baits, continuing their impressive start since joining the Pin Up range.

A fitting way to sign off from a water that has created so many memories over the years.

A trip that provided all the confidence needed for a fresh start.

Jack Thomson headed to France with a new bait in tow, hoping for one thing above all else – confidence in his choice for the season ahead.

What followed was far more than he could have imagined.

The results came quickly, the bites kept coming, and by the end of the trip any doubts had long since disappeared. Sometimes all it takes is a few special fish to confirm you’re on the right track.

Safe to say the Red Sea Squid has more than earned its place for the season ahead.

Liam Gingell with one of the true giants of the Snaggy Pit.

A lake that has broken many anglers, sending them home with their tails between their legs, but for Liam, it seems the carp gods continue to smile upon him.

The Snaggy Pit rarely gives up its biggest prizes easily, and this particular fish hadn’t seen the bank for years. A true old warrior and one of the most sought-after residents of the lake.

Through persistence, dedication and an unwillingness to give up, Liam has now secured its place firmly in his album.

As always Liams puts his faith in the bait that he had a huge part putting together, the ‘Red Sea Squid’. As he says, “ignore at your peril!”
