A Club for the Community

This is the page for the mens senior team.

Our youth teams have their own page at https://www.facebook.com/renfrewfcyouth Renfrew Football Club was formed as Renfrew Juniors FC in 1912 after the previous Junior club in the town, Renfrew Victoria, went defunct in 1910. The ‘Vics’ also played at Western Park. During the period between Renfrew Victoria folding and Renfrew Juniors starting, Western Park was used by a juvenile side Orchard Rove

rs, but local fans, not content with this, decided to form the Junior Club that still exists to this day. The Club name Renfrew Juniors was changed to Renfrew Football Club following the Intermediate Dispute which lasted from 1925 to 1931. More- www.renfrewfc.co.uk/club-infohistory/renfrew-fc-about-us

Sponsor Shoutout

Like most clubs at this level, we rely heavily on income from sponsorship provided by local companies, and one such company is Roadside Vehicle Services.

Originally taking out a pitch side board in 2018, they also sponsored our away kit the same season. They then began sponsoring our run out tops, which they still do to this day.

We appreciate the supporters and season ticket holders who year after year show up and put money into the Club, but we also need local companies like Roadside Vehicle Services and others to keep supporting us. We really appreciate their support season after season. Many thanks.

Our next league game takes place next Wednesday when we travel to Newlandsfield to take on Pollok. A few days later we welcome Vale of Clyde to New Western Park for our 2nd round tie in the Scottish Communities Cup. Both sides received a first round bye and will be hoping for the win to progress after poor starts to our respective League campaigns.

We are still on the lookout for a match sponsor for this game, so if that's something that is of interest to you, then get in touch.

This year commemorates 150 years of senior football in the town of Renfrew, and the town's first entry into the Scottish FA Cup.

Last November, Stewart Davidson (who has been researching the history of the club on and off for many years) was invited to do a talk on the history of the early days of football in Renfrew up until the period before the Second World War, focusing on the current club and its immediate predecessors. Although there was a good overall turnout at the talk, held at Renfrew Town Hall, the fact it ended up coinciding with an important Scotland game on TV meant that only a few 'Frew fans made it along and a number had said they were disappointed to miss it.

Stewart is now going to do the talk again (but at a slightly more relaxed pace as he only had 50 minutes last time). This will be held in the clubhouse at New Western Park on Monday 21st September, starting at 7.15pm. There will also be a few items from the clubs history available to view and Stewart would be happy to answer any questions that he can on the night about the history.

Everyone is welcome and there is no entry charge. However, any donations on the night would be welcomed with all proceeds going to the Grandstand Fund.

We’ve reached a co-operation agreement with Greenock Morton to bring in three players on a season long loan. Right back Dean Black and midfielders Joey O’Toole and Louie Murphy, have already had some first team experience this season in Morton’s League and Cup campaigns, and will be available for our league match against Pollok next Wednesday.

No game for us today but our Development team were in action last night as they took on Edinburgh City in a Cup tie at Meadowbank Stadium. Despite a great effort, a late penalty by the hosts secured the win and place in the next round.
