This is the criteria I’ve set myself… but I’m completely open to having it challenged.

I’m mainly looking to visit independent, owner-operated gyms because I think they’re solving the problems I’m most likely to face as I grow Sups Gym.

That doesn’t mean bigger operators have nothing to teach me. Quite the opposite.

If you run a larger gym or a multi-site business and you genuinely think there are lessons I can apply to an independent gym like mine, I’d love to hear why.

The whole point of this journey is to learn, not to stay inside my own bubble.

Thursday completely changed my opinion on a few pieces of Prime equipment.

The pec deck felt outstanding, the plate-loaded seated row was far better than I remembered, and I also learned that heavier weight stacks are available on some of their selectorised machines.

Jason from and I also agreed that, if we had to build a bodybuilding gym using only two established brands, we’d choose Prime and Atlantis.

Next stop is to test the Prime lateral raise.

Would it earn a place in the new gym?

Hand picked isn’t a slogan.

It’s years of testing machines, travelling to try them, waiting for the right equipment and maintaining it to the highest standard once it arrives.

Every machine has to earn its place on our gym floor, and that’s a process that never really ends.

Quality isn’t built overnight it happens one great decision at a time.

Fake replica kit flooding out of China! That’s a line in the sand I am drawing! I think as gym owners we need to decide what we stand for!

I stand for quality kit, buying future classics that will stand the test of time. And for that my next two orders will be off and . Expect announcements soon.

If we don’t draw this line our brand will lose the credibility it has for holding the line on quality. No attempts at quick wins, in fact it makes my path even clearer. Buy the best and stress test it down Weston’s toughest playground.
