Travel and parking update!

We have received the below update from the council regarding access to Poole park for tomorrow's event. We recommend giving yourself an extra few minutes to travel to Poole park tomorrow, especially if you're intending on parking on Parkstone Road :)

Poole Park Middle Gate will be closed to pedestrian access on Saturday morning. A walkway will be provided to navigate the works safely and access the next available entry point.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow for what will no doubt, be a perfect way to start your weekend :)

Thank you to Donna Reeves, a visitor to Poole this morning.
Donna (pictured in the Yeovil top) has written a super account of her visit, read below :)

Wow what a lovely scenic parkrun you have at Poole Park.
This is my first time here as trying to complete the alphabet challenge and this parkrun has given me my letter 'P'.
Being new to anywhere can cause some level of anxiety but I needn't of worried at this one.
I checked out the page before hand to find where to park. Easy parking at Dolphin swimming pool.

I arrived in plenty of time. I then asked a couple of people how far the parkrun is and it was only a few minutes away - yes I have been to a parkrun where the nearest car park was a good 20 mins away.
I soon found Mike the RD for the day. He had everything under control.

I listened to the very good first timers briefing.
Just before 9am Mike was giving his briefing on the course and safety elements. He informed us that he was awaiting a call as there were some geese on the path near the park with their babies. We were all advised to be careful and there was a Marshal along there. By the time I had ran around I think the geese had already moved away.

The course is flat with a mixture of tarmac and compacted gravel. Definitely a PB course for some.
Poole can have a 1000 or more runners but I think with the horrible weather forecasted many had stayed away. There were 780 runners with 55 brilliant volunteers. I could see on the way around how much work was needed for the set up. The finishing funnel in itself must take a long time. I cannot even describe how this was done. But it all seemed to work like clock work.

Rupert Allison was first runner in at 16.22 followed right behind was Louis Robinett at 16.27 with an age grade of 90.37%.
First female was Caroline Williams at 18.17 and is a first timer to Poole. Caroline is part of the Hardley runners club. I noticed quite a few from this club with there club tshirts on.
Now Poole parkrun is the first parkrun that I have seen who have tabards to borrow for any milestones.

I have mentioned the lovely volunteers who most give up their run so that we can have ours. Please if anyone has a little spare time then help them out. Even if it is token sorting which still enables you to have your run. I have done this role at my local parkrun and had less than 150 tokens to sort with someone else. I can't imagine having to sort a 1000. Thank you to everyone who made me welcome.

Yes again!

June 20th there is another event in the park that would make it difficult to host the parkrun. More parkrun tourist opportunities.

Please spread the word.

Reminder…..

Reminder…..

Poole parkrun is cancelled on 30th May 2026 due to another event in the park that day.

Please don’t all swamp Upton House parkrun, maybe use it as an opportunity to try some parkrun tourism and try a totally new parkrun.

Please spread the word!

Thank you to Selina Dent from Didcot parkrun who has written this weeks news report.

This week, an impressive 1,122 parkrunners and 55 volunteers gathered for event number 704.

A short walk from the leisure centre car park, I joined fellow tourists at the first-timers briefing, with visitors from places including Brighton, South London, Belfast and Chipping Sodbury.

Congratulations to those taking part in their very first parkrun, as well as those celebrating milestones — especially Jenny on her 100th, John on his 50th, and Jen, complete with fabulous balloons, marking her 25th.

After a walk through of the route we headed over to the start in front of the fountain, lining up in accordance with our estimated finish times.

A quick check for any geese crossing and a countdown from 3-2-1, we were off on the first lap around the cricket pitch.

Despite the large attendance, it was one of the smoothest starts I’ve experienced at a busy parkrun, with runners flowing steadily onto the course.

A beautifully sunny day and with solid paths throughout we continued on for lap of the glistening lake.

Keeping an eye out for swans and geese with their young, and encouraged by friendly marshals along the way, we soon headed back into the park for one final lap of the cricket pitch before the straight run to the finish.

Here a multi funnel is in operation, efficiently managing the high attendance and ensuring everyone receives their correct time.

If you are looking for a scenic fast and flat, this course is for you.

Thank you to all the volunteers for making today’s event possible.

Well done to everyone who ran, walked and volunteered at Poole parkrun today. The volunteer response this week was amazing, thank you 🙏🏽

How did your parkrun go?

A bank card was handed in….I’ll keep it for a week and destroy it if no response.

Remember we’re cancelled next Saturday

It’s sunny ☀️☀️☀️ and warm 🔥 and we don’t want to teach you to suck eggs…..what we don’t want though is any casualties of the warmer weather. We’re used to fresh conditions and suddenly we have a warm/hot parkrun upon us. Please think about bringing water with you.

Have a lovely sunny parkrun and enjoy it 😎
