🏀 MASSIVE SHOUT OUT TO OUR FABULOUS REF — SHANNON! 🏀❤️🖤

Today Shannon stepped up and took on the challenge of refereeing the UTB lads — and what an absolute superstar she was! 👏

A talented young lady who showed confidence, professionalism and a real understanding of the game.

Let’s not forget, the heart of basketball is our officials. 🏀❤️

Without referees to supervise fair play, manage the game and ensure everyone can play safely and respectfully, these games simply couldn’t happen.

So today, we want to say a HUGE THANK YOU, SHANNON! ❤️

You stepped up, took on a challenge and played a massive part in making today’s friendly possible.

We are incredibly proud to see young officials developing and getting opportunities to grow.

UTB LADS — UNITY IN ACTION 🏀❤️🖤

The UTB lads came together today to form a team and play their first friendly ahead of the upcoming basketball season.

UTB Rats. UTB Southbeys. UTB Pirates. Different teams, different journeys — some meeting and playing together for the very first time. 🤝

The first 10 minutes were all about learning, navigating and finding that connection. With an extended game format, the lads played 5 x 10-minute periods, and for many, it was the first time they’d touched a basketball since the end of last season!

And honestly… they were absolutely amazing. 🔥

They upheld everything UNITY stands for — in this together. ❤️

Cornwall arrived as a well-drilled, connected team and took the early lead, And the 3s were raining! 🎯🏀
but that didn’t stop our lads from finding their rhythm.

This friendly was the perfect start to rebuilding confidence, creating new relationships, getting the lads playing together and, most importantly, enjoying basketball in the sporting manner it should be played.

ONE UNITY. ❤️🖤

We’re launching our own 100 Club to help raise funds for our netball club—and you could win cash prizes while supporting the team!

Unity Through Sport is so much more than sport. We are a community, bringing people together, creating opportunities and making a difference. 🤝

Our ethos is simple:

Through basketball, netball and volleyball, we support juniors, women, adults and our Over 35s community — helping people stay active, connected and part of something positive.

We are now looking to raise £15,000 to help us continue and develop what we do. This will support sports hall hire, coach training and qualifications, safeguarding, first aid, equipment, officials, league costs and the development of new opportunities — including our ambition to create an affordable women's basketball league for ages 15+ across Plymouth and the South West. 🏀👩

Every Friday night our Over 35s session brings together players who simply love the game. This summer we're opening the court up and allowing a few of the younger generation to join us, creating a fantastic mix of experience, energy and community basketball.
