I didn't start this because I had it all figured out.

I started it because I knew what it felt like to not have anyone properly in your corner.

I spent years going to the gym and not really knowing what I was doing. Uncomfortable. Out of place. Just going through the motions.

It wasn't until someone actually took the time to show me, explain things, care about how I was getting on, that things started to click.

That's what I want for the people I work with.

Not just a programme. Not just a plan. Someone actually there❤️

Some people have driven to the gym and sat in their car.

Then driven home again.

Never went in.

If that's you, trust me it’s way more common than you think.

And we get it…

The gym can feel like the most intimidating place in the world if you've never been or had a bad experience.

Feeling like everyone is watching.

Feeling like you don't belong.

Feeling like it's for everyone else but not you.

No idea what to do or where to start.

It’s what happens when you've never been shown that it can be different.

Because it can.

There are places with no egos.

There are places with no judgement.

Just people showing up, working hard & having a laugh while they do it.

The hardest part is walking through the door the first time.

Everything after that gets easier.

If the gym has never felt like your place, maybe you just haven't found the right one yet.

Trust us when you do, you'll wonder why you waited so long

Consistency doesn't mean doing it perfectly every week.

It means coming back.

That's it.

The people I've seen get the best results aren't the ones who never miss a session. They're the ones who miss a few and show up anyway.

You don't lose everything when life gets in the way. You only lose it if you stop coming back.

So if you've had a rubbish few weeks, that's fine. Just come back😊

My client came to me with a goal to lose body fat and get some definition.

Running wasn't part of the plan.

She's not a runner. Never has been.

But somewhere along the way she got asked to try it by a friend.

Said yes.

Ran her first ever 5k.

Then a 7k.

Someone who would never have called herself a runner.

That's what happens when you stop putting yourself in a box.

Oh and alongside that.

She dropped from a size 12 to a size 8.

Hit her lowest ever weight.

And has hit some strength PB's hip thrusting 150kg & DB bench pressing the 17.5kgs.

Not bad for someone who wasn't sure she could do 1 goal never mind the extra's..

Insanely fu***ng proud of her.

If you've always told yourself certain things just aren't for you.

Maybe it's time to question that.

Your body is smart.

Push it too far and it adapts.

Everything slows down & suddenly you're miserable with absolutely no result.

Fat loss doesn't have to feel like s**te.

A slide along at the drama's of us getting a photo together😂

Rach one of my longest standing clients...

She's been going through a fat loss phase for a couple of events she has coming up this year.

Progressing well.

Then her friend asked her to do a Hyrox doubles.

She said yes.

No specific training for it due to time restraints.

Just years of showing up week in week out doing what most people would call the "mundane" stuff.

She stepped up, finished it and had a brilliant time.

Wasn't broken for a week after it either.

That's what happens when you put the time in consistently.

You become capable of things you never planned for.

Proud of this legend.

Now back to work😉

You know the confidence & energy you’re searching for?

That wanting to feel better within yourself?

That doesn’t happen when you’re in a smaller body

It happens on the journey to there

It happens when you start being more mindful of the things you’re eating, how much you’re eating, when you’re eating

Food = fuel

It happens when you move your body and exercise more

Movement = endorphins

It happens when you do the little things to look after yourself like getting enough sleep and staying hydrated

Well rested + hydrated = feeling human again

Yes hitting your weight loss goal is a big achievement

But you can start to feel more confident, energised and better within yourself before you even get there😊

One of the most common things I hear.

"I'm not progressing, I'm still lifting the same weight"

And I get it.

Adding weight to the bar feels like the obvious sign you're getting better.

But it's one of about 7 ways you can progress a your training.

Here's what most c***s miss...

You can progress by doing more reps with the same weight.

You can progress by increasing your ROM within the movement (range of movement)

You can progress by slowing the movement down and actually controlling it. (better reps)

You can progress by adding an extra set.

You can progress by reducing your rest time.

You can progress by using a band to increase the difficulty.

You can progress by cleaning up your technique so the right muscles are actually working.

None of that requires touching the weight.

Jumping up in weight every single week isn't realistic.

And chasing it when your body isn't ready is how you get hurt &/or get fu**ed off with the process.

Progress is progress.

Start measuring it properly.

Start having a good time.

Save this if it's something you needed to hear.

What a weekend from Mr Northeast👏🏻

(And yes, Northeast is actually his surname😂)

Last weekend Paul took on the Three Peaks Challenge.

For anyone unfamiliar, that’s climbing the highest mountain in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.

Ben Nevis.
Scafell Pike.
Snowdon.

Around 23 miles of walking and over 10,000ft of climbing.

Oh… and you’ve got to drive between them all too😅

Out of the 10 guys doing the challenge, only 5 managed to summit all three mountains.

Paul was one of them.

An absolutely savage challenge by any standard.

What we love most though is that this isn’t something Paul does because he has to.

It’s something he’s worked towards because he enjoys challenging himself and seeing what he’s capable of.

Awesome effort my man🤜🏼🤛🏼

Most people would sit down for a week and let their legs recover…

Not Paul😂

A couple of days later and he’s already back training and moving again.

He’s some guy.

Life's been a bit of a roller coaster recently...

The issues with my stomach are persisting without any clear answers which is frustrating.

We've got a lot happening behind the scenes at ProjectU which is both exciting & stressful at the same time.

My granda took a heart attack at the weekend.

15 minutes to resuscitate him.

That kinda s**t stops you in your tracks.

And at the end of this week for the first time ever, we're actually taking a proper holiday mid year.

Not a Christmas break where everything shuts down anyway.

A real one. Proper time to switch off....or try🥴

I'll be honest, it feels strange.

With everything going on stopping for a break feels wrong.

But I think that's exactly why we need to.

You can't pour from an empty cup and all that.

Looking after yourself isn't & shouldn't be a reward for when everything is sorted.

Because everything is never fully sorted.

It's just life.

Take the break.

Check in on your people.

And don't forget to tell those you care about that you love them.
