🌟 As part of Volunteers’ Week, we would like to thank everyone who contributes to the club.

There are so many people who help keep the club running, growing and thriving. From those who volunteer on the water each week, support events and bring new ideas to the club, to those working behind the scenes dealing with admin, emails, safeguarding, maintenance, funding applications, project coordination and future planning, parents and supporters who lend a hand, and volunteers who step forward to help with events throughout the year... the list goes on!

🌊 Our volunteers come from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. We really appreciate the different skills and perspectives they bring to the club.

Thank you to all of our volunteers for everything you do.

We have had a super cool weekend of activity at the club. Friday evening saw a busy night on the water, with a wide mix of boats racing and people simply enjoying being out on the water. We also had the return of our Fun Friday Junior sessions.

Saturday then saw a different kind of activity for us with an Intro to Racing session. We had 15 people out on the water practicing racing starts, learning courses, and building confidence in taking part in club activities. ⛵️

🌊 We are pleased to have our Friday night junior sessions making a return this week.

Starting this week at 18:00 allowing youth members to take part in our popular Friday nights! This will be run by qualified club volunteers and will involve a relaxed session with lots of fun and games in the Lido. Once sailors feel ready they can then take a trip out to the bay to join in with the Friday night sailing out there!

The lido sessions are open to any junior club members aged 7-16 who can sail scomfortably across the wind (RYA Stage 1 standard)

As with all club activities there will no additional cost for club members! So join-up here today if you haven’t already ! Only £22 for annual junior membership.

After that, use the Spond App to sign up for activities. Or simply send us an email to let us know when you are coming. (Limited spaces available each week)

For sailors who need to borrow a boat and other equipment to take part, Oppies, Toppers and all other equipment required is available to hire from Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust on the night for £8. Just bring cash or make a bank transfer to AST. Details on Spond.

In order for this session to run there will be a need for some extra help and volunteers going forwards 🙂 This can be pulling up boats, washing wetsuits, making hot chocolate. All help appreciated!

Email us at [email protected] with any questions or let us know on the night if you are able to lend a hand

Last year we were offered a rather tired looking older Laser that was no longer in use. One of our junior members was keen to take it on as a project and has been working on it for almost a year. The hull was stripped back, repaired and then painted in yellow to match its original gelcoat colour. The fittings were refurbished and everything was sealed back down. Lots of members have helped with advice, tools and materials but it's very much been his own project.

Thanks to some funding from Buchan Youth Panel he was able to add finishing touches like an XD kicker and Radial sail.

When the boat arrived it had lots of stickers from club memberships and different events over the years. These have been scanned and re-printed on fresh vinyl so the boat's history hasn't been lost in the refurb.

Great job! We hope you have lots of fun sailing it.

We hosted an open day at the start of May, bringing people together at the club for a day on the water.

Activities were delivered with support from Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust and The Windsurf SUP Club giving visitors the chance to try sailing, windsurfing, winging and SUP.

We hope everyone who came along enjoyed the opportunity to try something new and we look forward to welcoming you back to the club soon.

Next time you are at the club look out for our shiny 'new' Searider RIB. We have had the boat for many years but stopped using it as the engine was tired and the tubes didn't hold air for long.

Thanks to funding we were able to take the boat down to Ferry Marine for re-tubing, new seat and a new engine. Before that, some of our volunteers completed a hull refurbishment and paint.

We are also pleased to announce the winning name from the suggestions we received back in March. After a vote from the committee, the RIB will officially be called “Phoenix” - A fitting name for a boat being brought back to life through its refurbishment and returning to use at the club.

It's great to have the boat back in action as we can have increased safety cover for busy sessions and now have a backup if our other boat needs repairs or maintenance.

We’re now looking forward to getting it fully kitted out and afloat for a busy summer ahead. Here’s to a long life on the water as part of the club’s future.

This project was supported by NESFLAG and funded by Aberdeenshire Council’s Coastal Communities Challenge Fund
