With the final game of the season and our fate in our own hands, we travelled to Derby to take on Golden Pheasant, who had picked up a few points in their last couple of games.
We had a couple of players missing, but this squad is packed with strength and depth. The atmosphere, togetherness, and good vibes around the club are exactly why everyone keeps turning up week after week.
We started the game like a house on fire, playing some beautiful tiki-taka football. Jazzy picked the ball up and fed it into the big man, Kye, who shifted past his defender before rifling home the opener to make it 1-0. π₯β½
The second goal came from a corner. Jazzy whipped a dangerous ball into the box, and JJ rose highest to power a header past the keeper and make it 2-0.
We were playing some excellent football and looked dangerous every time we attacked.
The third goal saw Kye turn provider. He slipped a lovely pass into Jazzy, who cut inside his defender and fired past the goalkeeper to make it 3-0. The floodgates were now open, and we were running riot.
The fourth came from a pinpoint pass by Fabian in midfield, finding Jazzy in space. He made no mistake, finishing confidently for his second goal of the match and putting us 4-0 ahead.
We grabbed another soon after, with Jazzy again at the heart of it. Playing like a man possessed, he floated a brilliant ball over to Bomma, who peeled away from his marker and finished first time to make it 5-0.
The sixth goal came from another Fabian assist. This time he found Bomma, who skipped past his defender with a hop, skip and a jump before slotting past the keeper. 6-0 after just 20 minutes and we looked unstoppable.
We conceded two goals before half-time through a couple of errors, but we still went into the break comfortably ahead at 6-2.
The second half saw a few changes, but the momentum continued.
Bomma was eager to complete his hat-trick and looked dangerous every time he got on the ball. One of his efforts forced a spill from the goalkeeper, with Tris unlucky not to convert the rebound and get himself on the scoresheet.
Soon after, Will played a great pass out to Bomma, who unleashed a driven effort from the edge of the box that flew past the keeper to complete his hat-trick and make it 7-2. π©β½β½β½
Tris continued to threaten and was unlucky to see a superb side volley drift just over the bar. Will was also unfortunate not to get a goal of his own after several efforts on target.
Our eighth goal came from some excellent link-up play between Dean and Jazzy. Dean delivered a cross into the box which was only partially cleared, and the ball fell to Jazzy, who struck it first time into the net to complete his hat-trick. 8-2.
The final goal of the afternoon came from, you guessed it, Jazzy. A neat one-two with Bomma opened up the defence, and Jazzy smashed the ball into the back of the net to grab his fourth goal of the game and round off the scoring at 9-4.
We were thin on the ground today, but the belief that we can win every game runs right through this squad.
We have completed something great this year, remaining unbeaten in the league and winning the double. The league title was fully deserved, and the evidence speaks for itself. π―ππ
A massive well done to all the lads, and a huge thank you to all our supporters throughout the season. π
