Good write from the weekend 🥊
Still trying to process the outcome which isn't easy when it's close, but credit where it’s due — that was a great fight.
Nights like this test you, and right now we’re hurting, no doubt about it.
But this is far from the end. This is just the beginning of our journey to the top☝️
We’ll take the lesson, learn from it, and come back stronger, smarter, and more determined than ever 💯
From a coach’s perspective, I couldn’t be prouder of Mae!
The heart, the discipline, the courage shown in that ring — you can’t teach that. That’s what champions are made of.
Big thank you to the promoter Scott Lawton for the putting us on the show 👊
My review from last nights boxing, a Scott Lawton Promotions event at the kings hall stoke-on-Trent.
Back to one of my favourite venues and we kicked off with Seb Caisley on his pro debut and he put in a good performance winning every round vs a tough Dan Booth who took a few big shots very well. 🥊 ❤️
Next up was Mae Astbury, giving some weight away in order to get a fight on she took on Alisha Lewis. This was a very good fight with a clear clash of styles. Mae often had to take a shot to close the distance and get in close to get in some of her own work, I thought Mae got the better of most of these exchanges but Alisha did land some bigger shots. It was definitely a close fight, I thought Mae won 58-56 but the referee scored it 58-57 the other way. I know Mae is disappointed with that result but I know she will bounce back and I’ll be there when she does 🥊 ❤️
Fight 3 was Corey Mountford, I watched Corey make his debut last time we were here and last night he was very impressive whilst moving to 2-0. I noticed that Corey’s opponent Jake Bray had a tattoo on his left side and it was almost like Corey used it as a target as he constantly landed right hands to the body. As Beccy Ferguson said in interview after the fight, I felt if it had a few more rounds then Corey would’ve got the stoppage. I’m looking forward to following his career develop, a bright future ahead I’m sure! 🥊 ❤️
Rhasian Earlington made his comeback fight after 7 years out of the ring and Ben Vickers came for a fight! The 2 warriors slogged out a 4 round war Ben constantly on the front foot and Rhasian seemed quite happy stood in the corner trading blows! A draw seemed fair to me! 🥊 ❤️
Main event and what a week it’s been for Ryan Jones who signed with Gold Star Promotions and soon found himself making his pro debut on 8 days notice. Somehow the Worcester fighter filled 9 tables of fans on a weeks notice and he came to put a show on for them, I’m sure they left happy as he blasted Steven Wallace out within 2 rounds with a flurry of punches in the corner of the ring where I was sat. A special mention to Ryan’s smallest fan his son who was watching next to me shouting for his dad 🥰 🥊 ❤️
Well done to all the fighters, teams, promoters and fans for putting on a great show. Thanks for reading as always, Lily 🥊 ❤️
