Cycling Ulster would like to thank Armagh City Cyclists for stepping in to host this year’s Ulster Road Race Championship as part of their planned event on Sunday 6 September, using their Killylea circuit.

The Championship was originally due to be hosted by Lakeland CC, but roadworks on the proposed circuit meant the event could not safely go ahead as planned.

Armagh City Cyclists had already planned an Open Road Race on 6 September.
As an open event, it is available to all Cycling Ireland members and the format and arrangements were already in place.

By incorporating the Ulster Road Race Championship into this existing event, Armagh have made it possible for the Championship to go ahead this year.
Without their planned race, there would be no Ulster Championship Road Race.

We appreciate that this is a different arrangement to what riders may have expected, but the event remains an Open Road Race, with the Ulster Championship medals awarded to eligible Ulster riders.

We hope riders will support Armagh City Cyclists and recognise the work that has gone into ensuring that the Ulster Road Race Championship can still take place!!

The Bray Wheelers CC festival of cycling is happening on the weekend of Sat 19th & Sun 20th September at the Behive pub in Wicklow this year...last year it was only one day, but now an extra day has been added! Massive prize money, primes over the 2 days, with Saturdays women's race, a kermesse style race, and on the Sunday ( C1 & C2 & C3 races ) with massive prize money

Some sad news received today about the sudden death of Andrew Hedley (AH Coaching) last Friday. Knew Andrew since he was a junior with Ards CC in 2005. He started in 2017 his own coaching firm, and racing team. He was a good tester, and always had time for a chat during races. Originally from the Comber Area, and was living in Belfast. Andrew was only 37 years old, and my heart goes to his girlfriend, family and the many friends in cycling he had, RIP dear friend 😢
The funeral will be held in Newtownards at S.Clarke & Sons (Court Street) on Saturday 29th August at 9.30am

Sunday 23rd August: The 2026 EMYVALE GRAND PRIX in Monaghan was a great success at all counts, sunny weather, no wind and decent number of entries. My apologies for the late report...trouble with my laptop, and eventually got the photos edited and downloaded. 3 races on the menu...the C1-C2 race was an handicapper, but overcome after 50km racing... after that 10 riders got away and stayed away, with a sprint won by Ciaran Maguire Team Dan Morrissey beating Dean Harvey Mc Convey Cycling in 2nd, and Lindsay Watson Caldwell Powerhouse Racing a close 3rd. The C3 race stayed mostly together for their 75 km race...and won by Ihnatii Melnyk (Bray Wheelers) beating Seamus Babington (Panduit Carrick Wheelers) to second, 3rd was Jamie Franklin ( VC Glendale) The supporting Ulster Masters Race was won by Tony Pryce (DB Cycling Club), second was Patrick Ennis U/A Leinster, with Brendan Kiernan (Lakeside Wheelers Mullingar) 3rd. A big thank you to Emyvale CC for the donation towards our travel expenses, and always honoured to do the MC job for this great club, and so many volunteers to make this race safe...Podium photos Jerome, and others myself when I had the chance.., regards Dany
