Alresford Rugby Club

Alresford Rugby Club Community rugby at its best in Alresford, Hampshire. Two senior teams, great socials, a place for everyone; players and supporters alike.

Join us on the pitch, the sidelines, or at the bar. All abilities welcome.

The club was formed during the summer of 1991, following the entering of a team in the Wi******er Easter Sevens Tournament, and played its first full XV a side match in the September of that year. Following a very encouraging first season and the recruitment of additional players th

e club entered the recently created Hampshire Division 3, in 1992. After completing its first season in Hampshire 3 the club formed a 2nd XV and has continued to field 2 adult teams throughout the last 13 years. Following promotion and then relegation from Division 2, on a couple of occasions, the 1st XV finally reached Hampshire 1 in 2004. Also in this season the club managed to reach the semi-finals of the Hampshire Plate, our best performance to date. The 2nd XV has gone from strength to strength, with greater numbers of players coming to the club, and entered the Hampshire Merit Table 3 three years ago.

Thinking about getting back into rugby? Or curious about giving it a go for the first time?

Alresford Rugby Club is delighted to be running two special ‘Return to Rugby’ / ‘Introduction to Rugby’ sessions led by Karl and the coaching team on:

Wednesday 17th June
Wednesday 24th June
7:00pm – 8:30pm

These sessions are specifically designed for people who haven't played for a few years, are completely new to the game, or have only limited rugby experience.

We know that returning to sport or trying something new can feel daunting. That's why these sessions will provide a relaxed, supportive, and welcoming environment where you can build confidence, learn the basics, and enjoy rugby without feeling under pressure.

To ensure everyone gets the most from the experience, we kindly ask our regular and experienced players not to attend these sessions, allowing the coaches to focus fully on helping newcomers and returners find their feet.

Whether you're looking to rediscover your love of rugby, improve your fitness, meet new people, or simply try something different, we'd love to see you there.

Please share this with friends, family members, colleagues, or anyone you think might enjoy getting involved in rugby for the first time or getting back into the game.

Full pre-season training for all players begins on 14th July. But in the meantime, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Tuesday’s Fitness Group at 7:00pm is continuing throughout the summer and Thursday Touch Rugby at 7:00pm is open to all, social, and growing stronger every week

Come and be part of a great club, a great community, and a great game. We look forward to welcoming you to Alresford Rugby Club.

Vagrants, this is your day.

Not for headlines.
Not for comfort.
But for effort, pride, and the shirt on your back.

Today, the Alresford RFC Vagrants travel to face Millbrook RFC, a test of character, resilience, and togetherness.

To the players, this is where teams are forged.
In tough away games. In heavy legs. In moments where it would be easier to step back, you step forward instead.

Carry hard. Tackle harder. Back each other in every moment.
Play with courage, play with heart, and earn every inch.

No passengers. No excuses. Just commitment to each other and to the club.

To the supporters, if you’re making the trip, your voice matters. Be loud. Be relentless. Be the difference when it counts.

Because this is what the Vagrants are about.
Hard work. Brotherhood. Never taking a step back.

Eighty minutes. One team. One purpose.

This is what it’s all about.

The miles travelled.
The early starts.
The quiet moments before the noise.

Today, Alresford RFC make their way to face Lymington Mariners RFC, not just as a team, but as a club bound by effort, pride, and belief.

To the players, this is your stage.
Every carry, every tackle, every decision; it all matters.
Play with courage. Trust the man beside you. When the game asks questions, answer with heart. And when it gets tough, because it will, that’s where we show who we are.

Remember why you started.
Remember who you represent.
And leave nothing in the tank.

To the supporters, you are part of this.
Your voices carry further than you think. Your belief lifts tired legs. Your presence turns away days into something special.

Stand loud. Stand proud. Stand together.

Because today isn’t just another fixture.
It’s another chance to prove what this club is built on.

Effort.
Commitment.
Togetherness.

Let’s take that with us.
Let’s make it count.

The pitch waits.
The shirts are hung.
The boots are laced.

All week, the work has been done in the quiet, on cold nights under the lights, in bruises carried home, in the promise that when Saturday comes, we will stand together.

Today, Alresford RFC face Hook & Odiham RFC at Arlebury Park.

Eighty minutes.
Eighty minutes to carry harder, tackle stronger, run faster.
Eighty minutes to trust the man beside you and play for the badge on your chest.

There will be moments when lungs burn, and legs grow heavy. When the game tightens and every metre has to be earned. That is when character speaks. That is when teams are forged.

To the men in green and gold, play with courage, play with heart, and leave every last drop of effort on that field.

And to those on the touchline, your voices matter. Your cheers lift tired legs, your belief drives the team forward. Stand with us and make Arlebury Park ring.

Because today is more than a game.

It’s pride.
It’s brotherhood.
It’s Alresford RFC.

Stand together. Fight for every inch.

Today, Alresford RFC travel to face Millbrook 2nds, and the stage is set for a big away performance.

This is what it’s all about: long training sessions and the quiet graft that no one sees. Today, it all comes together for 80 minutes of intensity, discipline, and pride in the green and black.

Millbrook will be ready. It’s their turf. Their crowd. Their challenge.
But we travel as one, a squad built on effort, belief, and backing each other when it matters most.

Every carry counts.
Every tackle matters.
Every voice on the sideline makes a difference.

If you can make the trip, stand with us. Bring the noise. Let the lads know they’re not alone out there.

This is about pride.
This is about commitment.
This is Alresford.
