Millom A vs Egremont A Match Report
Millom A welcomed Egremont A in what is always a fixture both sides look forward to. With a great relationship between the clubs and following an earlier defeat to Egremont this season, Millom knew they were in for a tough challenge.
The visitors started strongly, while Millom struggled to find their shape in the opening stages. Egremont took advantage of this and quickly put points on the scoreboard. Despite Millom's efforts to regain control, Egremont's pace and ability to exploit gaps in the defence proved difficult to contain.
To their credit, Millom continued to battle and were rewarded when Jake Middleton crossed for a well-earned try. Unfortunately, Callum Lamont was unable to add the extras. As the first half progressed, Egremont maintained their momentum, but the half-time whistle came at a good time for the home side.
Millom came out for the second half with renewed determination, showing much stronger defence and greater intensity. Reien Weightman produced several powerful runs and created an opportunity for Jack Park, who finished well to score. This time, Callum Lamont successfully converted to add the extra points.
Despite Millom's improved performance, Egremont continued to apply pressure and showed why they are such a strong side, eventually running out 52-10 winners.
While the scoreline may seem one-sided, it certainly doesn't reflect the heart, effort, and determination shown by the Millom players throughout the game. The team never stopped competing and can take plenty of positives from their commitment and resilience.
A special mention must also go to referee Paul Evans, who controlled the game excellently throughout and communicated well with players from both sides, earning the respect of everyone involved.
This week's Man of the Match awards went to No. 7 Jack Park, No. 6 Reien Weightman, and No. 13 Jack Proctor. All three put in outstanding performances, leading from the front and showing the commitment and effort that Millom pride themselves on.
A huge thank you also goes to Andrew and Sandra James for the food afterwards and our supporters who continue to back the team week in, week out. Your support never goes unnoticed and means a great deal to the players. We will regroup, learn from this performance, and come back stronger as a team.
Up the Woollybacks!
