Result from today’s fixture,

Rangers - 0
Young Bulls - 5

And you know what, it absolutely was not a 5-0 game. Words of the Young Bulls manager.

The first half was relentless from us, we dealt with everything the young bulls threw our way and even scared their defence a few times. Half time at 0-0 was fantastic against a side that features so many players from higher levels.

But we are only mere mortals in the world of football and we were reminded of the oppositions quality mid way inside the second half as 4 relatively quick fire goals flew past debutant keeper Josh.

The last goal came 10 minutes from time as the ball was swung into the box from a set play, and headed past substitute keeper Marron who claimed to have two hands on the ball…

We find ourselves in the same position as last week, beaten, but not defeated.

We have been gifted with a week away now to end this wretched run of form and work on some new things in the break.

See you in a week! 🫡🇬🇧

Full time result from Sunday,

Rangers 2, Darlington Spraire Lads Mens 3.

The game started extremely positive for the Rangers as we looked threatening from the first whistle. Our passing and movement had improved massively from the weeks before and we looked more confident than ever on the ball.

Unfortunately, the away side drew first blood in this thriller of a game as a communication error between Goalkeeper Nathan and defender Jev saw a cross bounce into an empty net. 0-1

Shortly after, the visitors doubled their lead. Again coming from the right hand side as the apparently invisible DSL winger tip toed into the box to put it on a plate for the striker. 0-2

0-2 down at home in a flash. We’ve been here before…

Despite feeling that horrible, gut wrenching pain as we have done oh so often in previous games, we still carried on playing top football, and 10 minutes after the DSL brace, we scored what can only be described as the greatest header in the history of football.

Liam Walker burst into pace, zooming down the right hand side like one of those Japanese trains that go a million miles an hour, only to whip the most disgustingly perfect delicious cross onto the head of Ry Richardson who somehow managed to curve the ball past the keeper. Personal revenge for saving his penalty on the opening day. 1-2

We had the visitors where we wanted them, our goal was clearly a shock to the DSL System who probably wouldn’t have thought we’d get a sniff at goal after our previous results and they looked shaken. Even more so when a lovely Alex Hancock run was laid back for Max Lowe to score his 2nd league goal of the season. 2-2.

We began the second half in the same way we ended the first half, but the away side’s half time team talk must’ve been a decent enough bollocking for their defence to step up a level. The last half hour of the second half was honestly a-bit dry from our perspective, a couple of missed chances here and there including a decent save from the keeper down low to his left, but in the end DSL were rewarded for their relentless pressure and attacking threat with a late goal to seal the win.

Even though we lost the game, we feel like the team more happy with the result, there is a lot to learn for us this season, but this game was a massive step towards where we want to be, not only as a team, but as a club too.

Out, but not down, onwards! 🫡🇬🇧

The Young Bulls were just too strong for the Rangers as we ended our first ever trip to Blackwell Meadows with a 5-1 defeat.

Scott Mentz set out for his first game in charge of the club covering for manager Shaun who is away.

The game started incredibly poorly as after 15 seconds the young bulls right winger hit a tame effort towards goal which was parried by keeper Baz into the net.

Another goal soon came but this time at the expense of Baz’s right hand. As the ball bounced around the 6 yard box, nobody seemed to want to clear it or score, until Baz finally managed to grab it out of the air At the same time as the young bulls player swung for the ball in his hands forcing Baz to drop it into his own goal. A broken finger for Baz but fair shot said the referee…

We responded well, and after a few things said during Baz’s treatment break, we reacted in the best possible way.

A ball out wide to Ben Campbell was whipped into the box but only for the young bulls defender to head it past his own keeper into the empty net.

Half time 2-1

Despite having most of the ball in the latter stages of the first half, the young bulls still took their chances, and after a nifty bit of play, they slotted past substitute goalkeeper Mark to finish the game off shortly after half time.

We knew we had no chance of getting back at them, they were just too strong for the Rangers, but we preserved.

Shortly after a clear as day penalty was dismissed by the referee, the Young Bulls had it in the net again, despite a second ball interfering with play causing the Rangers defenders to become confused and overwhelmed.

The game fizzled out and young bulls grabbed 2 more sloppy goals from our point of view.

As far as we’re concerned, we’re scoring goals, we just can’t keep them out. Plenty to work on as we prepare for another cup game this weekend.
