Last night, we hosted our first-ever โ€œNight with Garvsโ€, bringing together members of the 1871 Club and supporters from across Marlborough Rugby for a fantastic evening. ๐Ÿ‘

Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner before the floor was opened for a Q&A with our new Head Coach, Matt Garvey. โšซ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ตโšช๏ธ

Matt shared stories and experiences from throughout his playing career, as well as his vision and ambitions for the future of Marlborough Rugby. โšซ๏ธ๐ŸŸก

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, our catering team, Directors of Rugby and Senior Menโ€™s players who helped make the evening one to remember. ๐Ÿ™Œ

A big shoutout to WJA Fab & Con ltd and our senior mens players for all their help with making improvements to our car park for the 26/27 season.

We had a very successful โ€œclean-up dayโ€ at the club and we are very greatful for all the support shown by our members. There is still plenty to do before the season soon approaches and we would love your help!

โœ๏ธ Marlborough Rugby is delighted to announce the signing of experienced winger/centre ๐‘ฑ๐’๐’‰๐’ โ€œ๐‘ฑ๐‘ซโ€ ๐‘ซ๐’‚๐’—๐’†๐’•๐’‚๐’๐’Š๐’—๐’‚๐’๐’– to the club.

Fijian-born and raised in England, JD arrives with an impressive rugby CV spanning both codes.

A British Army and Royal Signals representative, JD has previously played rugby union with Wasps, Birmingham Moseley and London Scottish, before earning a professional contract with Wakefield Trinity in 2022.

Powerful, explosive and capable of operating on the wing or at outside centre, JD brings a wealth of experience to the squad โ€” from Championship Rugby and a Super League environment to years representing the British Army.

He remains a serious attacking threat too, most recently crossing for a hat-trick for the Army against Brazil in 2025.

JD will join Head Coach Matt Garveyโ€™s playing squad ahead of the 26/27 season. We canโ€™t wait to see him running out up on The Common in black and gold.

Marlborough Rugby is recruiting senior menโ€™s players for the 2026/27 season โ€” and we want to hear from you.

Rugby has been part of Marlborough since 1852, with generations of players representing the town and rugby being played on The Common since the 1930s. Today, weโ€™re a proud, ambitious and friendly community-run club in the heart of Wiltshire, fielding two competitive senior menโ€™s squads โ€” our 1st XV and 2nd XV.

TOP-LEVEL COACHING
Our senior programme is led by Head Coach Matt Garvey โ€” former Bath Rugby captain and England Saxon, with more than 180 Premiership appearances across Bath, Worcester Warriors, Gloucester and London Irish.

Matt is supported by a quality coaching group with professional honours throughout, including scrum coach Halani Aulika, whose career included the Highlanders, London Irish, Sale Sharks and Grenoble, as well as representing Tonga at the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups.

Whether youโ€™re an experienced player looking for a new challenge, an ambitious young player wanting to develop, relocating to the area, leaving university, based with the military locally, or simply looking to get back into competitive rugby โ€” there is an opportunity at Marlborough.
