Abingdon Head of the River Abingdon Rowing Club delivered just about every season in a single day, and what a day for Swindon Rowing Club.

A standout result for Rob and Henry: the fastest double overall and winners of the Men’s Open 2x a superb performance.

We fielded three doubles and two quads, including one crew rowing together for only the second time with two members new to racing since Learning to Row…. And they came within 20 seconds of the win!!

Huge thanks to Tomek and family for transporting the boats and generously sharing them with the squad, and to our brilliant supporters who stood through the weather and made sure everyone in Abingdon knew Swindon was there.

Proud, loud, and only just getting started!!

Lovely to have two junior octos (octuples) from Abingdon School with us at Coate Water this morning. What's more, as the Thames has been in flood since December, this was the boys' first time on the water! What an honour for Swindon to be their first taste of rowing 👌

Lovely to be able to share our water with Oxford Amateur Rowing Club, Green Templeton Boat Club, and Hinksey Sculling School this morning. Some 56 people supported by Coate Water Country Park and Swindon Rowing Club today, with even more coming tomorrow!

Learn 2 Row Courses 2026
We’re pleased to share that applications are now open for our 2026 Adult only Learn to Row courses.

Spaces are limited on each course, so we recommend getting in touch soon if you’d like to take part.

We’re also proud to share that Swindon Rowing Club was recently named Coaching Team of the Year by British Rowing, recognising the quality, care and consistency of our coaching across all levels.

What’s included
- £99 for four Sunday sessions
- Coaching from our award-winning volunteer coaching team
- Use of all club equipment and boats
- One month’s membership of Swindon Rowing Club
- A British Rowing Learn to Row booklet

All sessions take place on Sunday mornings at Coate Water Country Park, Swindon.

Rowing is a skill that develops with practice, so for those who complete all four learn to row sessions, we will give you a month’s free membership to the club, with additional access to weekly coaching through our Development Squad.
