OUR STORY
Founded in 2022, Teapots was created from Artistic Director Teigan's vision to build a truly inclusive space for dance and the arts — a place where creativity is celebrated, individuality is embraced, and every person has a voice that is valued and heard.
With a lifelong passion for dance, creativity and storytelling, Teigan wanted to create something that went beyond simply teaching steps and performing on stage.
Her vision was to establish a community where children and young people could express themselves freely, build confidence, form meaningful friendships and play an active role in shaping the stories they tell.
Since those early days, Teapots has continued to grow.
What began with one member of staff has developed into a dedicated team of three staff members and a volunteer.
As we move into September 2026, we are incredibly excited to welcome two new members of staff and an additional volunteer, allowing our Teapots family to grow even further.
Collaboration sits at the heart of everything we do. From planning classes and developing creative ideas to producing our shows, every member of the team is encouraged to contribute. Our volunteers bring an important young voice to the company, but most importantly, we listen to the children and young people who attend our classes.
Their ideas matter. Their creativity matters. Their voices matter.
We believe some of the most powerful work happens when young people are given the freedom and confidence to share their own vision. Bringing those ideas together and transforming them into something that can be celebrated on stage is what makes Teapots shine brightest.
More Than Dance
At Teapots, we thrive on inclusivity, freedom, creativity and friendship. We want every person who walks through our doors to feel that they belong, regardless of their ability, experience or background.
Of course, we love the performances, the costumes, the lights, the excitement and the glitz and glamour of show day — but those moments are only the icing on the cake.
The true magic happens in the dance hall.
It is found in the laughter between rehearsals, the friendships that grow week after week, the confidence of a child finding their voice, and the pride of watching someone achieve something they once thought was impossible. It is in the shared memories, the encouragement, the creativity and the feeling of being part of something bigger.
We don’t believe dance should be about fitting into a mould. We believe it should give people the freedom to discover who they are.
Our ambition is to continue building a company where every child and young person feels seen, heard, supported and celebrated. A place where differences aren’t simply accepted — they are recognised as part of what makes our community so special.
As Teapots continues to grow, our heart remains exactly where it began: with our young people.
We want to create opportunities that inspire them, experiences they will remember, friendships they will carry with them and a confidence that reaches far beyond the studio doors. Whether a young person dreams of performing on stage or simply wants somewhere they can laugh, move, create and completely be themselves, there will always be a place for them at Teapots.
Because for us, success isn’t measured by how bright the stage lights shine.
It’s measured by how brightly our young people shine beneath them.
