Luton Table Tennis Club

Luton Table Tennis Club Luton Table Tennis Club is here to help in the growth of table tennis. This we are doing by having daily sessions for beginners to advanced players.

Luton Table Tennis Club is a new venture started by Elroy Edwards (CEO), which he embarked on in January 2016 at the Lewsey Farm Learning Center. It has become successful in the sense that there are people coming 7 days weekly. The participants are growing and it includes youngsters to elderly, beginners to well advanced players. "Table Tennis is a sport I loved and still love with an unexplained

passion. The confusing thing was this, my table tennis exploits ran concurrently with my exploits as a boxer. Also, I went on to become a professional boxer while quitting table tennis for over 20 years. After finding out that my hand and eye coordination combined with my feet movements were second to none hence being called the racket sports genius. Looking back at it now I felt hurt to know that I did not do anything to further my talent at the time as I was a very gifted table tennis player." Elroy Edwards

Christopher Does It Again! 🏆

A huge well done to Christopher for winning the Cadet final against Ben Willis.

Earlier in the day, Christopher had already defeated Ben 3-2 in the group stage, but in the final he raised his level even higher, producing a dominant 3-0 victory. The standout moment came in the second game when Christopher found himself trailing 10-4. Many players would have given up, but he showed tremendous fighting spirit, composure, and belief to pull the game back and win it. He then went on to take the third game convincingly to secure the title.

This victory was about much more than technique. It was about resilience, courage, and refusing to accept defeat even when the odds looked against him. To come back from 10-4 down in a final demonstrates the mentality of a champion.

Well done, Christopher. Keep believing, keep working, and keep improving.

A lot of players only focus on attacking, but if you really want to become a complete table tennis player, there are four things you absolutely must be good at. You must be able to serve properly, return properly, open up with confidence, and most importantly, you must be able to block under pressure. Blocking is not just about putting the bat there. Good blocking takes timing, touch, control, balance, bravery, and concentration. At some stage in a match, you will come under attack, and if you cannot block, you will struggle badly against strong attacking players.

This is why I was very impressed with Akira here. The blocking was controlled, sharp, calm, and intelligent. Instead of panicking under pressure, she stayed balanced and trusted the technique. That is the type of discipline and composure that can take a player a very long way in this sport. People always talk about big attacks, but good blocking can completely frustrate and break down aggressive opponents.

At Luton Table Tennis Club, we are building complete players, not one-dimensional players. Every part of the game matters, and Akira showed exactly why blocking is one of the must-have skills in modern table tennis.

The youngsters at the club are getting so good that I have to keep improving myself as well.

I'm back doing some work on the robot, sharpening my technique, improving my movement, and making sure I stay in shape so I can keep up with them in training. A coach should never stop learning, never stop developing, and never stop leading by example.

This is Level 3. The journey continues.
