Luton Table Tennis Club Luton Table Tennis Club is here to help in the growth of table tennis. This we are doing by having daily sessions for beginners to advanced players.

Luton Table Tennis Club is a new venture started by Elroy Edwards (CEO), which he embarked on in January 2016 at the Lewsey Farm Learning Center. It has become successful in the sense that there are people coming 7 days weekly. The participants are growing and it includes youngsters to elderly, beginners to well advanced players. "Table Tennis is a sport I loved and still love with an unexplained

passion. The confusing thing was this, my table tennis exploits ran concurrently with my exploits as a boxer. Also, I went on to become a professional boxer while quitting table tennis for over 20 years. After finding out that my hand and eye coordination combined with my feet movements were second to none hence being called the racket sports genius. Looking back at it now I felt hurt to know that I did not do anything to further my talent at the time as I was a very gifted table tennis player." Elroy Edwards

🏓🔥 ONLY SIX YEARS OLD — AND ALREADY DEALING WITH BACKSPIN!

Reyan truly amazes me. At just six years of age, especially here in the UK, you don't often see a youngster dealing with backspin the way he is already doing.

He's learning to recognise the spin, get underneath the ball and open up against it — something many beginners struggle with.

But what makes Reyan special isn't just his ability. He genuinely loves table tennis. He's practicing seven days a week, putting in the hours and enjoying the journey.

At six years old, he has so much time ahead of him.

Can you imagine where this youngster could be a year from now if he continues like this?

An amazing young talent with a tremendous appetite for the game.

Keep working, Reyan. The possibilities are massive.

🏓🏆 KUSH DOES IT AGAIN — THIS LITTLE MAN MEANS BUSINESS!

Nine-year-old Kush has done it once again, winning the Highfield TTC Tri-Club Series Cadet 1★, defeating Darsh, a much older player, in the final.

I watched quite a few of Kush’s matches and even cornered him for some of them. Unfortunately, after Akira’s round-robin finished, I had to leave early, so I missed the final.

What continues to impress me is Kush’s fearlessness. Age doesn't seem to matter — he gets on the table, competes and believes he can win.

At only nine years old, he has years of development ahead, but the talent, attitude and competitive mentality are already there.

Kush is a member of both Highfield TTC and Luton TTC, and I’m very pleased to be part of his development.

Another tournament. Another title. Another step forward.

Make no mistake — this youngster means business!

Well done, Kush! 🏆🔥

🏓 TOURNAMENT DAY — TRI-SERIES CADET ONE STAR

I’m here today at the Tri-Series Cadet One Star Tournament at High Table Tennis Club in Wellingborough.

I’m here with Akira, representing Luton Table Tennis Club, and of course this is also the home base of Kush.

Kush is also a member of Luton TTC, so naturally I’ll be supporting him today as well.

Another tournament, another opportunity for these youngsters to compete, learn and develop.

Let’s see what today brings.

🏓 THE BASICS BUILD THE PLAYER

Here we have the two young ladies, Nikola and Olga, working together on the basics.

Nothing complicated — forehand to forehand, backhand to backhand, learning to control the ball and build consistency.

Here they’re playing forehand to forehand and counting how many strokes they can make before someone makes a mistake.

This is such an important exercise. It teaches them to slow down, concentrate, control the ball and value every shot rather than trying to hit everything hard.

Before you can build the advanced stuff, you need a strong foundation.

CONTROL. CONSISTENCY. REPETITION. THEN PROGRESSION.

Keep it simple and master the basics.

🏓 FINISHING OFF WITH SANAV, NIKOLA AND OLGA

Now it’s time to finish off the session with Sanav, Nikola, and Olga.

One thing I particularly like here is Olga’s body position. Look how she gets low over the table, bending her knees and staying balanced.

That is a great example, especially for the youngsters. Getting low puts you in a better position to move, react and control the ball.

LOW. BALANCED. READY.

🏓 NOW THE SERIOUS TRAINING BEGINS

Some of the youngsters have left, and now Nayan and Sanav have really buckled down.

The fun and Top Table have finished, and these two are getting into some serious table-tennis drills — working with purpose, intensity and concentration.

This is where we start getting into the finer details and putting in the quality work.

Less talking. More balls. More repetition. More quality.

🏓 EVERYONE WORKING — EVERYONE DEVELOPING

Nayan has turned up to work with Sanav, which gives me that vital break I need.

While Sanav and Nayan train together, the other youngsters are busy playing Top Table.

That allows me to step back from feeding balls and oversee everything happening throughout the session — watching the matches, keeping an eye on the training, and making sure everyone is working with purpose.

Sometimes coaching is about being directly on the table, and sometimes it’s about stepping back and seeing the bigger picture.

🏓 WORKING WITH SANAV

Here I’m doing some work with Sanav, while the other youngsters are getting plenty of match practice.

Their matches eventually turn into a competitive game of Top Table — keeping everyone involved, moving, competing and enjoying themselves.

Different players, different levels, but everyone is working and developing.

Another productive session at Luton Table Tennis Club.
