Ludlow Town keep perfect away record intact after Bank Holiday comeback

FOOTBALL | Ludlow Town Football Club came from behind on Monday afternoon to record a 2-1 victory over Bromyard Town FC in their Hellenic League First Division derby at the Delahay Meadow.

Following a relatively tight opening half-hour, the hosts broke the deadlock eight minutes before the interval, after Danny Barnes saw his shot from the edge of the penalty area blocked before Jack Griffiths-Perry found the back of the net when he drilled home the rebound from 20 yards.

The Shropshire club were back on level terms 13 minutes after the interval when a penalty was successfully converted. There was all to play for during the final half-hour of the match as the local rivals probed to take the lead in an end-to-end bank holiday encounter.

It was Ludlow Town who would claim all three points when they converted their second penalty of the afternoon with six minutes of normal time remaining.

The victory saw the visitors move into fourth position in the table and Bromyard Town remain in 14th place in the First Division.

First team got back to winning ways yesterday after beating Bromyard away from home.

Bromyard 1-2 Ludlow

Goalscorer: Ryan Clarke x2

A depleted squad with only 11 regulars available for selection made the journey over to Bromyard. A leggy first half performance but we got going in the second half and a brace from Ry John secured the 3 points.

Thank you to the two reserve players who travelled over on the bench as cover. 👏

We go again on Saturday as we face a tough game v Studley at home. Hopefully see you all down there supporting the lads 🔴⚫️

Our unbeaten start to the season is over as we lose against Alcester Town.

Ludlow 0-1 Alcester

Ludlow started the brightest and had most of the possession early on but we're unable to create any clear cut chances. Alcester had a good chance before half time but keeper Quinn made a good save.

Second half more of the same from ludlow as again we had more of the ball but Alcester were well organised. With about 10 minutes to go Alcester took the lead with a well driven shot into the bottom corner.

We need to pick ourselves up and go again on monday as we travel to Bromyard Town.
