Real Coaching Co - Carole Ann Rice - Life Coach Carole Ann Rice is one of the UK's leading life coaches who has literally turned around the lives of Why on earth would you want to struggle anyway?

My philosophy for achieving success for my clients is simple - if you believe you deserve more I can help you get it. Although I am a London based life coach my clients come to me from across the UK and the world as most of my coaching is conducted on the phone. I like to use humour, compassion and inspiration to get you where you want to be. This way the whole process feels effortless and fun for you. You've nothing to lose except your current dissatisfaction.

“She holds a good space, packs a good punchline and shares with integrity, quality and true generosity of spirit. In my books, she has no competition.”

That is David Monro-Jones, Chief Operating Officer of the International Authority for Professional Coaching and Mentoring - the professional body that accredits coaching programmes across the industry.

I’ll be honest, that one means a great deal. When the person responsible for professional standards in coaching takes the time to say something like that, you don’t take it lightly.

If you have been thinking about working with me, a 30-minute trial session costs just ÂŁ10 - no obligation, fully redeemable against any future coaching.

Are you one of the Flitterati?

You want to chase your bliss - a year working in an orangutan sanctuary, dropping everything to become a travel blogger, finally writing that book. The problem is you can’t quite commit to any of it.

You always think something better is just around the corner
You half-finish courses, projects, diets, exercise regimes
Travel always seems like the best way out
Making a decision - any decision - feels paralysing

The Flitterati are not lazy or indecisive by nature. They are often creative, curious and full of potential. What they’re missing is a clear sense of what they actually want - and the courage to commit to it.

Defining your happiness and lassoing your passion is often the backbone of a coaching session. Once you get clear on what you’re really after, the flitting tends to stop.

Try a no-obligation 30-minute trial session for just ÂŁ10 - redeemable against any future coaching.

I caught myself doing something ridiculous last week.

I’d had a busy morning - answered emails, put the dishwasher on, did the laundry, paid some bills and written half an article. Then I sat down with a cup of tea and a little voice whispered, “Shouldn’t you be doing something?”

Apparently sitting quietly with a hot drink is now considered a kind of deviancy.

Somewhere along the line we’ve joined a cult. The Cult of Productivity. Its members believe they should be busy at all times, optimise every moment and feel vaguely guilty for watching daytime television.

You might be a member if:

You’ve turned a hobby into a project
You listen to podcasts at double speed because normal speed feels lazy
You have a to-do list so long it’s now classed as historical fiction
You feel guilty sitting down, despite being exhausted
You refer to an afternoon nap as “recharging for greater efficiency”

The cult teaches us: “I’ll rest when everything’s done.” The problem? Everything is never done.

Productivity is a useful servant but a terrible master. Life isn’t a project to complete. There is no gold medal for answering the most emails, folding the most laundry or dying with an empty inbox.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is sit in the garden and drink your tea while it’s still hot.

Self-doubt has a habit of running the show quietly in the background. The job you didn’t go for. The conversation you didn’t have. The version of yourself you keep meaning to become.

I spent years as a recovering shy-aholic - which might be the last thing you’d expect from someone who has coached for over 25 years, run a half marathon and had a column in the Daily Express. Confidence isn’t something you either have or you don’t. It’s something you build.

My Comfortable Confidence online course is a simple, affordable way to start doing exactly that - at your own pace, without the commitment of a full coaching package.

Less than the price of a coffee a day.

A recent Pure Coaching Academy graduate described herself as a recovering overthinker.

“How brave,” we all thought. “How honest.”

Would you admit to such a condition yourself?

The ability to sacrifice countless hours, dim perfectly good days and gift yourself sleepless nights because you’ve become devoted to the fine art of the ruination of rumination.

Behind all that apparent deep thinking often lurks a desperate need for certainty, a fear of failure, perfectionism, and good old-fashioned fear wearing a clever disguise.

Overthinking is like throwing a stone into a washing machine, selecting Fast Spin and jamming the door. Round and round your thoughts go. After six hours of mental gymnastics you’ve usually arrived exactly where you started.

A few ways to escape the rabbit hole:

⚡️Get it out of your head and onto paper
⚡️Find someone who can sit with you while you verbally empty your mind - better still, get a coach
⚡️Ask a better question. Instead of “what’s the worst that could happen?” ask “what’s the best that could happen?”
⚡️Take a step. Sign up. Apply. Ask. Start.

Action creates clarity. Thinking rarely does.

You don’t need certainty before you move forward. You simply need enough courage to take the next step.

“Kind, warm and insightful” - and the values work was particularly helpful.

That kind of feedback genuinely means a great deal. Coaching is a personal process and trust matters enormously. When a client leaves with greater clarity about what they value and why, that tends to stay with them long after the sessions end.

If you have been thinking about coaching but are not quite sure what to expect, a 30-minute trial session with me costs just ÂŁ10 - no obligation, fully redeemable against any future sessions.

What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?

I've asked this question in coaching sessions more times than I can count. And the answer people give - the real one, not the safe one - tells you almost everything you need to know about what they actually want.

Most people know exactly what they'd do. They've known for a while. The fear of failure isn't really the problem - it's the permission to try that's missing.

So - what would yours be? Tell me in the comments.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

Mine came early on in my coaching career. Someone told me that the quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask yourself. Not the answers. The questions.

It sounds simple. But think about the questions you ask yourself on a daily basis. "Why does this always happen to me?" leads somewhere very different to "What can I do differently here?"

Same situation. Completely different outcomes.

Tell me yours in the comments - I'd love to know.
