It’s Okay To Be Misunderstood:
I spoke to someone today about being misunderstood… and honestly, that conversation stayed with me.
They really felt misunderstood.
Like no matter how much they tried to explain themselves, people just weren’t hearing them… or seeing them for who they truly are.
And I get it.
Because I know that feeling too
Let me tell you something that will set you free…
It is okay to be misunderstood.
For most of my life, I’ve felt misunderstood.
By family.
By friends.
In relationships.
And you know what? That’s okay.
Because being misunderstood isn’t always a reflection of you doing something wrong.
Not everyone is going to “get” you.
Not everyone is going to see your heart.
Not everyone is going to understand your growth, your decisions, your boundaries or your mindset.
And that is not your problem.
Sometimes people misunderstand you, simply because they only see you through the lens of who they think you are or the lens of who you used to be.
Sometimes they misunderstand you because they have never met someone who thinks like you, moves like you or has the courage to be different or live differently.
But listen…
It is good to be different.
It is good to stand out.
It is good to feel comfortable in your own damn skin.
It is good to know who you are without needing permission.
Being misunderstood is not a problem.
Sometimes you actually have to embrace being misunderstood.
The moment you start trying to explain yourself to people who have already decided who you are - you will begin shrinking. You will begin performing.
You will begin editing yourself just to feel accepted. And that is a dangerous place to live.
You don’t need to convince people who benefit from you staying the same.
You don’t need to prove your intentions to people who only focus on your mistakes.
You don’t need to keep breaking your own boundaries just to keep others comfortable.
You definitely don't need to be around people that want to keep you small.
The right people won’t need you to explain your existence. They will recognise your energy, respect who you are, see your heart and your authenticity.
Just be you!
Stay blessed 💙
