I’ve watched Isak’s second goal countless times, and the movement leading up to it is just as impressive as the finish. 🔴

He makes an initial run, looking for Virgil to pick him out, but the pass doesn’t come. Isak then intelligently steps back onside before immediately making another run between the defenders.

Gakpo reads it perfectly and finds him with an excellent pass. 🎯

This is the Isak we’ve been waiting to see — constantly moving, attacking spaces, stretching defenders and making those dangerous runs in behind.

We’re gradually seeing glimpses of the Newcastle Isak again, and when he gets fully up to speed, he could be a nightmare for every defence in the league. 🇸🇪🔥

Newcastle are still feeling the absence of Isak.

Just watch them play and you’ll understand why they’re still so bitter about Liverpool taking him. 😂🔴

This is bigger than just Richard Hughes leaving.

Liverpool are once again facing instability at the top of the sporting structure, with this being their fifth sporting director change since 2022. That raises legitimate questions about continuity and whether the club has found the right long-term model.

The positive is that the football operations department still has experienced people capable of keeping recruitment and strategy moving. So Liverpool shouldn’t suddenly become directionless.

But ultimately, the next appointment has to be right, not rushed. The club has changed sporting directors too frequently in recent years. Whoever comes in needs the authority, stability and alignment with the manager to build a coherent football structure for the long term.

No more revolving doors. Get this appointment right and give the football structure the stability it needs. 🔴

🚨 Liverpool’s sporting structure is set for another major change.

🟢 INFO: The search for what will be the club’s fifth sporting director since 2022 will now be led by Mike Gordon.

🟢 INFO: Richard Hughes has informed FSG of his intention to leave Liverpool this year. The departure of Michael Edwards as FSG’s chief executive of football was reportedly a significant factor in his decision.

🟢 INFO: Liverpool want to appoint Hughes’ successor as quickly as possible. However, the club’s existing football operations department remains capable of setting and implementing strategy across the short, medium and long term.

That structure includes Dave Woodfine, Julian Ward, Pedro Marques and Barry Hunter, ensuring continuity while the search for a new sporting director takes place.

🎙️Richard Hughes:

“First and foremost, I would like to reiterate what I said upon my arrival – it has been a source of great pride to have been given the opportunity to serve this incredible and unique institution. That is something I will always be grateful for.

“My appreciation extends to ownership for their support and leadership, to club staff at all levels who give so much to make Liverpool FC what it is, to the players who make such an enormous contribution and to the fans who support the team in great numbers whenever and wherever games take place.

“I’ll always follow and support the club with great affection, and I wish everyone involved nothing but success for this season and beyond.”

I’ve always believed competition brings out the best in players, and Cody Gakpo is a perfect example. 🔴

His best spell in a Liverpool shirt came when he was competing with Luis Díaz for his place. Now with Bradley Barcola arriving, Gakpo knows he has another serious competitor, and that can only raise his level.

He looks refreshed, sharper and more energized under Iraola. After a difficult season, it’s great to see him responding the way he has.

Selling him just to bring in Minteh or Sarr would have made absolutely no sense to me. Keep Cody, give him competition, and let him cook. 👨‍🍳🔥

Lewis Koumas is giving Iraola another reason to trust him. 🔴

He’s becoming a really valuable option off the bench. The moment he comes on, you can feel the intensity — energy, hunger and a real desire to win the ball back.💪

I love that attitude. He’s not just waiting for opportunities; he’s taking them. 👏
