The Electronics Group

The Electronics Group The Electronics Group are a specialist electronics manufacturing support business based in Leeds.

History

Formerly Electronics Yorkshire, The Electronics Group are experts in the industry with a vast array of knowledge in both Electronics Manufacturing and Engineering. Established in 2003, Electronics Yorkshire (originally part of Bradford College) has been providing Training and Support and has been both an Authorised IPC Training Centre and Distributor for many years. Electronics Yorkshire’

s Advanced Training Centre (based in Leeds) is the largest of its kind in the UK and will continue to be the Head Office for The Electronics Group serving each division of the group. In 2013 we introduced a dedicated Electronics Engineering Apprenticeship at Intermediate Level 2 and in 2015 we added an Advanced Level 3. We are currently developing a Higher Level 4 for introduction in 2017. The change to The Electronics Group recognises the larger role, that the company now provides for the industry across the whole of UK and occasionally overseas. A new addition to coincide with the introduction of The Electronics Group is temporary and permanent recruitment for Electronics Production and Engineering staff. The Electronics Group will continue to provide IPC Training, Practical Skills Training and Technical Inspection Services as done in previous years as we continue to develop and grow as an organisation. Our Vision

Our vision is “to be the first choice support company for the UK Electronics Industry and its people” and we are continually working on developing our services to achieve this.

Not every fault can be found with the naked eye. Especially when you're dealing with things like hidden solder joints, BGAs, QFNs or multilayer PCBs. Visual inspection can only get you so far.

Our X-ray inspection service allows you to see inside your assemblies without damaging them.

Whether you're investigating a production issue or checking the quality of a prototype, our X-ray inspection can provide the answers.

Here's what you can expect:

✔ Non-destructive inspection
✔ High-resolution imaging
✔ Detailed IPC-compliant reporting available
✔ Suitable for prototypes, production batches and fault investigation
✔ Done for you inspection or full training on the use of our machine
✔ Quick turnaround times
✔ Anything can be inspected as long as it will fit inside the machine

If you've never used X-ray inspection before and aren't sure whether it's right for you, send us a sample and we'll provide a FREE X-ray image so you can see exactly what the technology can reveal.

A fresh new look for one of our Leeds training classrooms.

The new wall graphics have been installed, bringing a bit more colour and personality to the space.

We're really pleased with how it turned out and hope our delegates enjoy the space as much as we do.

Let us know what you think of the new look!

Here's what some of our delegates had to say about us last month:

💭 "The best trainer I ever met. Great communication and so patient with some that don't understand from the first. He made sure we can leave the course with no questions. Amazing."

💭 "Enjoyed the course, and felt very welcome and looked after."

💭 "Malcolm is very knowledgeable and patient with questioning. His ability to explain complex processes in simple terms is very helpful."

💭 "Very clear, lots of experience conveyed that's incredibly useful. Very supportive and down-to-earth approach. Would definitely attend another course and recommend to others."

💭 "Trainer was very knowledgeable on all apsects. He set a good pace and explained all modules very well."

We love to hear your feedback! Whether it's positive or constructive, it all helps us to continue to improve our services.

💡Today we’re answering the questions we get asked the most often:

Q: How long does IPC certification last?
A: Your certification will last for 2 years.

Q: Can I renew my certificate after it has expired?
A: If your certificate expires you will have to do the initial course again, although you can challenge test the course. But this method is not recommended unless you are very confident with the standard.

Q: Can I get certified to IPC class 3?
A: All our IPC courses teach you the quality level for all 3 classes. And all the IPC practical assessments are graded to class 3.

Q: Can you come to our site for the training?
A: Yes, we can deliver all of our IPC courses at your facility. We can also bring all the necessary equipment with us if you do not have it available on site.

Q: What is an IPC CSE?
A: A certified standards expert is one step further than becoming a specialist. It is perfect for people who require a very thorough and deep understanding of the standards but will not be required to train others.

Q: Do I have to do 2 separate courses to become an IPC Trainer?
A: No, you only need to do the CIT course to be a trainer. You do not need to have done the CIS before. Although it would make it easier if you have done the CIS before.

If you have any other questions or would like to speak to a member of the team you are always welcome to call us on 0113 274 4270 or email [email protected]

Thinking about becoming a Certified IPC Trainer (CIT)?

As a CIT, you're qualified to deliver IPC training and certification to Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) level. Having an internal CIT within your organisation has a few great advantages:

✅ Train employees in-house

✅ Reduce training costs

✅ Onboard new team members more quickly

✅ Maintain skills and certification levels across your team

✅ Build internal IPC expertise

You do not need to be a CIS in order to do your CIT training, however, it would make it easier if you have already done your CIS.

At The Electronics Group we offer CIT training for all the main IPC standards, along with CIT Training Bundles that include all of the resources you'll need to get started.

If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call on 0113 274 4270 or email the team at [email protected]

Becoming a Certified IPC Trainer is a big step, but getting everything you need together afterwards can be a bit of a headache.

That’s exactly why we created our IPC CIT Training Bundles.

They’re designed to give new CITs the essentials needed to start certifying internal teams to CIS level, all in one place.

Depending on the bundle, they include things like:

🔹 IPC standards (Hard copies)
🔹 Workmanship board kits
🔹 CIS exam credits
🔹 Discount vouchers for future orders and recertification
🔹 Even a free X-Ray inspection voucher

Our CIT Training Bundles are available for the following IPC certifications: IPC A-600, IPC A-610, IPC WHMA-A-620, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC 7711/7721.

If you're working towards becoming a CIT or managing internal IPC training within your company, they’re a really great way to get set up quickly.

How many cups of tea does it take to complete an IPC course? ☕☕☕

Well, we’re still trying to work out the exact number, but it’s definitely higher than expected 👀

Happy International Tea Day, arguably one of the most important days of the year, especially for us here in Yorkshire.

And yes… it's got to be Yorkshire Tea.
