❤️🖤💛 From starting horseball at 11 to becoming a team captain…

“We absolutely love Sussex Horseball Club and couldn’t recommend it more highly!

My daughter Immi started horseball when she was just 11, coached by Matteo alongside Bella at Lancing Equestrian. From those early days, it has been incredible to watch her grow—not only in her riding and horseball skills, but in confidence, strength and self-belief.

What started as a new sport and a new challenge has become such a huge part of her life. She has gone on to buy her very first horseball pony, Setti, and through the club she has made so many wonderful friendships and memories.

Last season was particularly special when Immi was given the opportunity to captain her team at the Sussex Cup. Seeing her out there, leading her teammates and doing something she loves made us incredibly proud. It was a real reflection of just how far she has come with the club.

Sussex Horseball Club is so much more than a club. It’s a supportive, encouraging and welcoming team where young riders are given opportunities to grow, challenge themselves and thrive—both on and off the horse.

🐴 HORSE & HOUND AWARDS 2026 — NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN! 🐴

For the first time, riding schools are being recognised—and we think that is something truly worth celebrating!

Riding schools are the grassroots of our industry and the place where so many people’s riding journeys begin. They build communities, develop confidence in and out of the saddle, support riders through every stage and help turn childhood dreams into real achievements.

At Lancing Equestrian, we have seen our own home-grown riders progress from riding-school lessons all the way to representing Great Britain at the European Championships this year. We know that investing in riders, creating opportunities and believing in their dreams really does work. 💙

❤️🖤💛 From a Have-a-Go session to competing internationally!

“I went to a Have-a-Go session with Sussex in August 2024, and it changed my life in so many ways.

I chose a sport that I had absolutely no experience in. I had only ever done showjumping and thrown a ball around during PE—which I was never very good at!

However, I also chose the sport in which I have been the happiest and achieved the most. I have now been playing horseball for two years, and it has been a rocky road at times, especially considering I couldn’t even pass the ball when I first started.

Now, I have competed at an international level—all thanks to Sussex Horseball Club, who have supported me every step of the way!”

Horseball is a fast-growing equestrian discipline combining the excitement of rugby and polo—with riding skill, teamwork and the connection between horse and rider at its heart. It’s already huge across Europe and is rapidly gaining momentum in the UK!

No horseball experience is needed—just come and give it a go!

💷 Bring your own horse: £30
💷 Hire horse and session: £80

We have a limited number of hire horses and spaces available. Booking is by message, with payment required at the time of booking to secure your place.

Horseball is genuinely inclusive and suitable for riders, horses and ponies from all kinds of backgrounds. It can be a brilliant option for:

Our horses include ex-racehorses, riding-school ponies, Arabs, cheeky cobs and even an RSPCA rescue horse who progressed all the way to the GBR selection stage!

Horseball is a true team sport. You and your horse are partners, but success also depends on your own fitness, athleticism, ball skills and ability to work with your teammates. It offers fantastic physical and mental health benefits—and it is only as competitive as you want it to be.

We have teams and training opportunities for a wide range of ages and abilities, with a clear progression pathway. You can simply train for fun, attend our socials and enjoy being part of the community—or compete and work towards international representation.

Six of our U16 and U21 players were selected to represent GBR at this year’s European Championships. Our U16 team has also won its second National League title and will represent Great Britain at the Champions League in October!

Whether you want a fun new activity or dream of progressing through the levels to represent your country, there are some incredible opportunities waiting for you.

We’re proud to have an amazing, welcoming community with regular training, competitions, socials and events. You can be as involved as you wish.

Still not over this weekend… 💙🐴

Looking back at the Sussex Horseball Cup at Hickstead and what an incredible two days it was. Fast-paced horseball, brilliant teams, an amazing atmosphere and so many memories made both on and off the pitch.

A huge thank you to every rider, horse, coach, volunteer, sponsor, exhibitor and supporter who helped make it happen.

We’re already dreaming about the next one… 👀🏆

As the summer holidays come to an end, we’re heading back to our full regular timetable at Lancing Equestrian — with after-school, evening and weekend riding available throughout the week! 💙

There’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking to build confidence, work towards your BHS qualifications, try something new or simply spend more time at the yard.

💙 SATURDAY & SUNDAY – Group Lessons, Activity Sessions, Under-14 Academy & Stable Assistant Training for those who want to spend more of the day learning and helping at the yard!
