All Stars BJJ in Liverpool today!
Big congrats to brothers Reuben and Judah for their first competition! Both were in challenging divisions, and both did us so proud!
In a fantastic debut performance, Reuben won the gold for his division, showing excellent passing and top pressure to get to a solid mount, while also displaying a dangerous closed guard, controlling posture to threaten triangles and sweeps! His little brother Judah unfortunately missed a medal, but had two equally valuable matches in which he showed some great guard retention and recovery, keeping the action going till the final bell! Great job from the lads and we can’t wait to see you both out again!
In the most advanced performance of the day, Connor had some epic battles at teen yellow belt, showing his advanced guard game and threatening from all angles, as well as showing excellent defence in escaping a deep bolo attempt. Unfortunately he came up short in his first true outing at this level, but also showed he absolutely is deserving of the advanced level and the grit and tenacity to strive onwards!
In Adults Karl executed the half guard game he’s been working hard on in the gym, scoring an early sweep despite being moved up a weight class against a larger more experienced opponent. In only his second competition he is already showing much improved strategy and placidity under pressure.
Will had a stellar performance in both gi and nogi, submitting both his opponents with a triangle and armbar respectively! Great performance and much more to come from this exiting young athlete!
