On Wednesday, Red Gate were invited to Coaltown of Balgonie Primary School to give an introduction to karate as part of the pupils’ Sportathon Day.

All the kids were well behaved and enjoyed their session with us.

Thanks for having us.

Big step for Red Gate Karate!

A couple years ago our hall sustained major water damage to the floor. The end result being that we have had to keep our mats down permanently.

Although the mats were top of the range, they were purchased in the early 90’s. It was time to renew.

Through their own initiatives, our students and parents set out to fundraise. Today has seen the result of that as our mats have arrived.

Major shout out to our team of fundraisers: Tam Shaw, Ami-Lea Shaw, Scott Jamieson, Natalie Gunn, Pete Jenkins, Mary Jenkins and Lisa Lauder. Without your help this wouldn’t have been possible. THANK YOU from all at the club!

Thank you to Cameron Gunn who took delivery today and has spent the day laying the mats down.

Can’t wait to use them on Saturday without having to worry about falling down any gaps.

Some great results today at the Scottish Karate Federation Championships.

We had 6 competitors and with 3 pulling double duty and competing in both kata and kumite events. So 9 entries in total.

Kata

🥉 Fergus Hunter-Talbot - Junior Kata
🥉 Ami-Lea Shaw - Under 16 Dan Grade Kata
🥉 Michael Beveridge - Over 16 Male Dan Grade Kata

Kumite

🥉 Sebastian Beveridge - Junior under 4ft 5
🥈 Michael Beveridge - Veterans

Despite no golds this was a great result for the club. Sometimes the difference between places can be tiny as was the case today.

Shout out to all the juniors that competed today. You done magnificent and I’m proud of you all.

Photos will follow 😎🥋😎

Edie Motorsport is flying the Red Gate Karate badge in the C1 Cup at Knockhill this season.

Thanks to Pete Jenkins for sneakily sticking our badge on the motor 👍
