What a really nice post just about sums up tomorrow thank you West of Anglesey: Ynys Cybi- Holy Island it’s greatly appreciated from all the team😃🥰👍
Regarded as one of the UKs toughest marathons, the Cybi Coastal Marathon takes place this Saturday 1 August with almost 600 runners due to take part in the two races - the full course and the C25K (half marathon) .
Starting & finishing at Holyhead RNLI Lifeboat Station , this circumnavigation of Ynys Cybi – Holy Island – is at 26.2 miles, a natural marathon distance loop. The route largely follows the Anglesey Coastal Path covering a variety of terrain - paths, tracks, beaches, including tricky cliff tops , and a short sharp climb to the top of Holyhead Mountain – Mynydd Twr and back down to sea level.
400 runners have signed up for the marathon which starts at 09:00. There’s also a half marathon C25K which starts at 10:00 & new for this year, a “Kids Fun Run” around the Newry Promenade starting once the other runners have departed.
Organised by three locals – Andy Williams, James Harper and Kristian Cuffin – it’s a "not for profit" event, raising funds for the local RNLI stations whilst striving to be as sustainable as possible.
To all the runners, organisers , volunteers and marshals - Good Luck – Pob Lwc! 👏
